Suzuki Diagnostic System 8.60 is a Windows based service application for Suzuki EFI four stroke and selected two stroke outboard motors. It connects a laptop to the engine control module through a dedicated SDS USB adapter and harness to read fault codes, display live sensor data, perform active tests and log engine parameters during sea trials. This package combines multiple SDS 8.x installers, the official operation manual, FTDI USB drivers and an extensive set of factory service manuals for most Suzuki outboard families.

Compatibility notes
Suzuki Diagnostic System 8.60 is intended for Suzuki marine outboard engines that support SDS communication. Based on the supplied service manuals and the SDS operation guide it covers a wide range of two cylinder through V6 four stroke DF series engines including DF4–DF6, DF9.9–DF15, DF25–DF30, DF40–DF50, DF60–DF70, DF90–DF140, DF150–DF175, DF200–DF250 and DF300. Many legacy DT two stroke models are also covered through dedicated DT service and information files. Exact coverage depends on engine model code, production year and the SDS database in use. Newest engines that require SDS II or mobile based SDSM tools might not be fully supported by this PC package.
The software expects a genuine or compatible SDS USB adapter with the correct four pin or eight pin diagnostic connector for the engine being tested. Battery condition, wiring integrity and correct harness selection remain critical for reliable communication.
Basic usage
Operating systems
SDS 8.x was originally specified for desktop Windows and is widely used on workshop laptops. Diagnostic kit vendors and SDS documentation note support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11 on both 32 bit and 64 bit systems when the correct FTDI driver is installed and the user has permission to run desktop applications. Screen resolution should be at least 1024×768 so that all SDS windows and data lists are visible.
Minimum system requirements

The software expects a genuine or compatible SDS USB adapter with the correct four pin or eight pin diagnostic connector for the engine being tested. Battery condition, wiring integrity and correct harness selection remain critical for reliable communication.
Basic usage
- Install the FTDI driver package from the USB FT232RL drivers for Windows folder so that the SDS USB adapter appears as a COM port in Device Manager.
- Run one of the SDS 8.x setup executables, normally ending with installation of SDS 8.60, and follow the on screen steps from the SDS operation manual.
- Connect the SDS diagnostic harness between the engine diagnostic connector and the USB adapter, then connect the adapter to the PC and switch the outboard main key to ON.
- Launch Suzuki Diagnostic System, select the COM port assigned to the adapter in the Setting menu, then open the main menu and choose the desired function such as data monitor, active test or data logging.
- Use the appropriate PDF from the Service Manuals folder that matches the exact engine model to interpret data, follow calibration procedures and confirm all specifications before making adjustments.
- After diagnostics save any necessary reports or logs, close the SDS application, then switch off engine power before disconnecting cables.
- CPU: 1 GHz or faster x86 or x64 processor suitable for running workshop diagnostic software.
- Memory: At least 1 GB RAM with 2 GB or more recommended when viewing PDF manuals alongside SDS.
- Storage: Around 300 MB free disk space for SDS installation plus additional space for logs and the service manual library.
- Display: VGA or higher resolution display with 1024×768 or greater working area.
- Ports: One free USB port for the FTDI based SDS adapter.
- Permissions: Local Windows administrator rights for driver and software installation.
