Thanks for sharing

You're welcome!

It's a solid release. Just a heads up for anyone setting this up: make sure your interface drivers are fully updated before launching the software. Version 2.37.0 is generally very stable for DTC reading and active tests on the newer TNV common rail engines.

Let us know if you manage to get it connected successfully or if you need any help with the ECU definitions!

Ok will try to poke around, otherwise there is just 3 folders:
1) Setup 2) Replace 3)Firewall and non of them contain text file with information about serial / crack / key generator, so far.

With that folder structure (Setup, Replace, Firewall), this is a Patch/Crack release, not a kеуg** release. You usually don't need a valid serial number to install it, or you use a dummy one.

Here is the standard procedure for this type of release:

  1. Run the Setup: Go into the 1) Setup folder and run the installer.
    • If it asks for a User ID/Password or Serial during the installation wizard, try entering generic numbers like 11111 or 12345.
    • Often, you can leave these fields blank or click "Next" to install in "Trial" or "Unregistered" mode. The goal is just to get the files onto your hard drive.
  2. Do NOT Run the Program Yet: Once the installation finishes, do not launch the software. Uncheck "Launch now" if asked.
  3. Apply the Patch:
    • Open the 2) Replace folder. You should see files like SA-Direct.exe or .dll files.
    • Copy all files inside that folder.
    • Navigate to the installation directory on your C drive (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\bin\ or similar).
    • Paste the files there. Windows will ask if you want to Replace the existing files. Click Yes.
  4. Firewall:
    • Go to the 3) Firewall folder. There is likely a .bat or .cmd script.
    • Right-click it and select Run as Administrator. This blocks the software from connecting to the internet to check the license.

After doing step 3, the software should launch without asking for a password. Let us know if the installer strictly blocks you from proceeding without a specific serial!

Unfortunately it does not allow to proceed with install, in User name field there is prefilled text: Ynetuser
After trying typing 11111 or 00000 in serial numbers fields, it still does not work.
Replace folder extracts 3 files, one of the file's name is: YSASS_License.lic
Im not sure how to open it or how to use it, if I cannot make the install of the software

Unfortunately it does not allow to proceed with install, in User name field there is prefilled text:...

That YSASS_License.lic file is actually the key to solving this. Since you can't install the software yet, you can't "replace" it, but you can read it to find the serial number the installer expects.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Right-click on the YSASS_License.lic file inside the "Replace" folder.
  2. Select Open with -> Notepad.
  3. Look for a line that says
    Code:
    SerialNo
    or
    Code:
    LicenseID
    .
  4. Copy that number and paste it into the installer's Serial Number field.

If the file is encrypted or you can't find it, try these common generic serials that often work with the "Ynetuser" ID for offline installation:

Code:
20130-00001
Code:
10000-00001

Once the installation finishes using that serial, then you copy the files (including that .lic file) from the "Replace" folder to the installation directory.

Note: The .lic file usually goes into a different folder than the .exe.
  • The .exe goes to:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\bin\
  • The .lic file often needs to be placed in:
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\License\
(You might need to enable "Show Hidden Items" in Windows Explorer to see the ProgramData folder).

Let us know if the serial from the text file works!

Hi, Serial Number: 4r3kWVJj-00002939

That's the serial from the .lic file. Try this:

In the installer:
  • User Name: Ynetuser (leave as prefilled)
  • Serial Number: 4r3kWVJj-00002939

If that doesn't work, try splitting it and entering only one part:
  • Try just: 00002939
  • Or try just: 4r3kWVJj

Also check if the installer has two separate fields for the serial (some Yanmar installers split it into a prefix field and a number field). In that case:
  • First field: 4r3kWVJj
  • Second field: 00002939

If none of these combinations work, there might be another approach — can you share a screenshot of the installer window so we can see exactly what fields it expects? That will help narrow it down quickly.

Also, were there any other lines or values inside that .lic file when you opened it in Notepad? Sometimes there is a separate Password or ActivationKey line that goes into a different field.

I am having trouble actually using the tool once this is all installed:
I was able to download, extract, activate. The app scans the ECU displays DTC's. It clears them but won't write the changes.

I get the message "Since a maker code is not in agreement, the write-in function to ECU does not operate."

Not likely, but anyone have a clue ? TIA

That error message is a known issue with SA-Direct when used with non-OEM VCI adapters.

"Since a maker code is not in agreement, the write-in function to ECU does not operate"

This means the software is checking the VCI adapter's manufacturer ID (maker code) against a whitelist of approved Yanmar diagnostic interfaces. Reading and DTC display work fine, but write functions (clearing DTCs permanently, adjustments, flashing) are blocked because your adapter doesn't pass the maker code validation.

What adapter are you using?

This matters a lot. Common scenarios:

  • Generic J2534 PassThru (OpenPort 2.0, Scanmatik, etc.) — Read works, write is blocked by maker code check. This is your most likely situation.
  • Yanmar OEM VCI (YDG) — Full read/write, no issues.
  • Clone Yanmar VCI — Sometimes works, depends on how well the clone spoofs the maker code.

Possible workarounds:

  1. Check the Replace folder again — Look at the other two files you extracted alongside the .lic file. One of them might be a patched .dll or .exe that bypasses the maker code check. Make sure ALL files from the Replace folder were copied to the correct installation directories, not just the license file.
  2. DLL patch — The maker code validation is typically handled in a communication DLL (something like YanmarVCI.dll, CommLib.dll, or similar). If the Replace folder contains a .dll file, that is likely the write-unlock patch. Confirm it was placed in the correct \bin\ folder.
  3. Adapter spoofing — Some J2534 adapters allow you to edit the manufacturer string in their registry entries or config files to match the expected Yanmar VCI maker code.

Can you tell us:
  • What VCI/adapter are you using?
  • What are the exact filenames of the other two files in the Replace folder?

That will help us figure out if the write-unlock patch was included or if a different approach is needed.

Hello, thank you for your contribution. I managed to install it by following your steps, but now I can't open the program; it is asking for a password.

Hello, thank you for your contribution. I managed to install it by following your steps, but now I can't open i...

Hello,

After installation, when SA-Direct asks for a password when opening the program, it is usually resolved like this:

1) Verify that you applied the patch correctly:
  • Open the 2) Replace folder from the package you downloaded.
  • Copy all the files it contains (including the YSASS_License.lic and any .exe or .dll files).
  • Paste them into the installation directory, usually:
    • The .exe and .dll files go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\bin\
    • The .lic file goes to: C:\ProgramData\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\License\ (the ProgramData folder is hidden — enable "Show hidden items" in Windows Explorer)
  • Replace the existing files when Windows asks.

2) Run the Firewall script:
  • Go to the 3) Firewall folder and run the .bat or .cmd file as Administrator. This blocks the program's internet connection so that it does not try to validate the license online.

3) Try these credentials when opening it:
  • Username: Ynetuser
  • Password: Ynetuser (the same as the username)
  • If it does not work, try leaving the password blank or using 1234 / 0000

If none of this works, can you share a screenshot of the window asking you for the password? That way we can identify exactly what type of validation it is performing and find the correct solution.

none of them work, the Replace file only contains an installer

Hello,

If the "Replace" folder only contains an installer (and not separate .exe, .dll, or .lic files to copy), then the process is different from what we described earlier:

Correct procedure:

  1. First, install the program normally from the 1) Setup folder. Use the serial number you find in the .lic file or try the one shared by another user: 4r3kWVJj-00002939
  2. Once it is installed, DO NOT open the program.
  3. Now run the installer located inside the 2) Replace folder — this is an parche/actualizador that overwrites the original files with the patched ones. Run it as Administrator.
  4. Then go to the 3) Firewall folder and run the .bat file as Administrator.
  5. Now try opening the program.

Important: If your antivirus deleted anything during extraction, temporarily disable it, extract the complete file again, and repeat the process.

If it still asks for a password after running the Replace installer, I need you to tell me:

  • What version of SA-Direct are you installing?
  • Can you share a screenshot of the window asking for the password?
  • What exact files are inside each folder (Setup, Replace, Firewall)?

With that information, we can identify exactly what is blocking access.

I understand the frustration. To be able to help you, I need more specific information:

  1. The two .exe files in the PRO folder — what are their exact names?
  2. When you run the PRO .exe as Administrator, what happens? Does any window, message, or error appear, or does it simply do nothing?
  3. The REPLACE folder — did you run the installer it contains? What message did it display?
  4. The window asking for a password — does it have any title or additional text? Does it only ask for "Password" or also for "User ID"?
  5. Did Windows Defender or your antivirus remove/block any file during extraction or execution?

If you can share screenshots of the password window and what happens when running the PRO .exe files, that would be the most helpful for identifying the problem.

Also check this: go to C:\Program Files (x86)\YANMAR\SmartAssist-Direct\bin\ and see if there are any files with a recent date (from the day you ran REPLACE). If they all have old dates, the patch was not applied.
