NYO Automotive Dump Editor for Airbag Radio and Dashboard

NYO 4.0 User R12.8 airbag, radio, dashboard and IMMO dump editor with full brand database.

NYO 4.0 is a Windows based database application for working with EEPROM dump files from automotive modules. It helps workshop technicians calculate radio codes, adjust dashboard mileage, clear airbag crash records and prepare IMMO or navigation data when repairing control units. The build in this post is a fully configured installation with extended brand coverage for everyday use in automotive electronics work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Windows version is recommended?
For maximum stability during ECU flashing and diagnostics, a clean installation of Windows 10 (64-bit) is recommended.
Is it compatible with J2534 PassThru?
Most modern software versions support standard J2534 interfaces like Scanmatik 2 Pro, OpenPort 2.0, and specific VCI adapters.

NYO 4.0 — Automotive Dump Editor for Airbag, Radio, Dashboard & IMMO

Nice to see this one shared. NYO has been around for years and remains one of the go-to desktop tools for EEPROM-level work on automotive modules. For those unfamiliar, here's a quick rundown of what this brings to the table and some practical tips.

What NYO 4.0 actually does

This is not an OBD diagnostic tool — it doesn't communicate with the car directly. Instead, you read the EEPROM or flash dump from a module using an external programmer (like UPA-USB, Orange5, XPROG, TNM5000, etc.), then open that dump in NYO to:

  • Calculate radio codes — load the EEPROM from a car radio, select the matching brand/model entry, and the built-in algorithm spits out the unlock code.
  • Clear airbag crash data — open SRS module dumps and reset crash flags / DTC records so the unit can be reused after repair.
  • Adjust odometer data — prepare dashboard cluster dumps with corrected mileage values (for instrument cluster replacement, not fraud — obviously).
  • IMMO key preparation — work with immobilizer data in supported ECUs for key matching and transponder setup scenarios.
  • Hex editing & comparison — built-in hex editor and file compare tools let you inspect and verify changes before writing back.

Coverage

The database is the real value here. It covers a wide range of European and Asian brands:

  • Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat (VAG group)
  • BMW, Mercedes-Benz
  • PSA (Peugeot, Citroën)
  • Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia
  • Ford, Opel/Vauxhall
  • Hyundai, Kia, Subaru
  • And many others across airbag, radio, dashboard, navigation and IMMO categories

Each brand has structured subfolders with notes, reference images and scripts. Coverage varies — some modules have full calculator support, others just have templates or hex offset notes.

Practical tips

  • Always keep the original dump. Before you touch anything, save your read file as a backup with a clear name (e.g., SRSoriginal2024-12-05.bin). NYO lets you "Save As" to a new file — use it every time.
  • Match by part number, not just by car model. Two identical-looking cars can have different module hardware. Always verify the ECU part number on the unit's label against the NYO database entry.
  • Verify your read. Read the chip twice and compare both dumps byte-for-byte. If they don't match, your connection or programmer setup has issues — don't proceed.
  • Windows 10 recommended. It runs on XP through 10 (32/64-bit), but Win10 gives the best stability. On Win11 you may need compatibility mode — right-click the exe → Properties → Compatibility → set to Windows 7 or 8.
  • Run as Administrator. Required for first launch and database access. Some antivirus software may flag it (common with niche automotive tools) — whitelist the folder if needed.

System requirements

Minimal — this is a lightweight database app:
  • CPU: 1.8 GHz or better
  • RAM: 256 MB minimum, 1 GB+ recommended
  • Disk: ~5 GB free (program + database + your dump backups)
  • Display: 1024×768 minimum
  • External EEPROM/flash programmer required for reading/writing chips

What it does NOT do

Just to set expectations — NYO won't read or flash modules by itself. You need a separate hardware programmer to extract and write back the dumps. It also won't cover every module ever made; the database is extensive but not infinite. If your specific part number isn't listed, the tool may not help for that particular unit.

If anyone has questions about a specific module or dump — post the brand, module type, part number and what you're trying to achieve. Happy to help where I can.

Muito bom

Valeu! 👍

  • Marca e modelo do veículo (ano e motorização)
  • Tipo de módulo (airbag, rádio, painel, IMMO)
  • Part number do módulo (etiqueta na carcaça)
  • Programador usado pra leitura (UPA, Orange5, XPROG, etc.)
  • O que você precisa fazer (código de rádio, limpar crash, corrigir km, etc.)

Com esses dados fica muito mais fácil orientar direitinho. Bom trabalho! 🍺
