We are pleased to release the 7DCT300 ISN Resetter v1.1, a free utility designed to help technicians adapt used 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions (7DCT300) found in modern BMW and Mini vehicles.

What Problem Does This Tool Solve?

When installing a used 7DCT300 gearbox, its Transmission Control Unit (TCU/EGS) contains the Individual Serial Number (ISN) from the donor vehicle. This security code prevents the gearbox from working in a new car. The ISN must be reset or "virginized" before the unit can be programmed and coded.

This tool provides the exact command needed to perform this reset using standard BMW diagnostic software.

How The Process Works

This tool generates a command for Tool32; it does not flash the TCU directly. The workflow is as follows:

Step 1: Read the EEPROM
  • You must first physically read the full 128KB EEPROM from the used 7DCT300 TCU. You will need a suitable EEPROM programmer for this step.
Step 2: Generate the Reset Command
  • Open the 7DCT300 Resetter software.
  • Click "Open eeprom" and load your 128KB EEPROM file.
  • The software will validate the file and activate the next step.
  • Press the "Press to get Tool32 command" button. A unique command string will be generated and displayed.
Step 3: Execute the Command in Tool32
  • Connect to the vehicle's OBD port using an ENET Cable or ICOM.
  • Open the BMW Tool32 software.
  • Load the gsge01qt.prg file.
  • Go to the "steuern" menu.
  • Copy the command string from the Resetter tool and execute it in Tool32.
Step 4: Finalize
  • The command will reset the ISN in the TCU. You can now proceed with standard programming and coding procedures using E-Sys or other tools to adapt the unit to the vehicle.

System Requirements & Testing
  • Operating System: This software has been fully tested and confirmed to be stable on Windows 10 LTSC 2019. It is also expected to work on other versions like Windows 7, 8, and 11.
  • Required Hardware: An EEPROM programmer, plus an ENET Cable or ICOM for vehicle connection.
  • Required Software: BMW Standard Tools (specifically, Tool32).

Disclaimer

This is a powerful tool intended for professional use. Always create a backup of your original EEPROM data before making any changes. Incorrect use can damage the TCU. Use at your own risk.
