The Free Solution for ISN Reset on BMW/Mini Aisin Gearbox Units.

We are pleased to release the BMW AISIN Gearbox Resetter v1.0, a new free utility designed for a specific but important task: resetting the ISN on Aisin-made automatic transmissions found in modern front-wheel-drive based BMW and Mini vehicles.

What Problem Does This Tool Solve?

Unlike most BMWs which use ZF transmissions, models like the X1 (F48) and X2 (F39) are equipped with Aisin gearboxes. When replacing the transmission with a used unit, the electronic gearbox controller (EGS/TCU) is locked to the donor car's security system (ISN). This prevents it from working in the new vehicle.

This tool reads the EEPROM data from the used EGS and guides you through a reset process using standard BMW software (Tool32), allowing the used gearbox to be "virginized" and adapted to a new car.

How The Process Works

This software generates the necessary data and commands for Tool32; it does not flash the EGS directly. The process is straightforward:

Step 1: Read EEPROM & Load File
  • First, you must read the full EEPROM (64KB or 128KB) from the used Aisin EGS unit. You will need a suitable EEPROM programmer for this initial step.
  • Open the Aisin Resetter software and load this EEPROM file by clicking the "Open eeprom" button. The software will automatically read the ISN data.
Step 2: Reset with Tool32
  • The software will now be ready for the reset procedure. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Clicking the "Run Command" button will execute the necessary job in Tool32 (using the `gsaw02f-h/p.prg` file) to perform the ISN reset.
  • After the reset is complete, you can proceed with standard programming and coding procedures to adapt the unit to the vehicle.

Supported Models

This tool is designed for BMW & Mini models equipped with Aisin 8-Speed automatic transmissions, including but not limited to:
  • BMW X1 (F48)
  • BMW X2 (F39)
  • Various Mini (F-Series) models.

System Requirements & Testing
  • Operating System: This software has been fully tested and confirmed to be stable on Windows 10 LTSC 2019. It is also expected to work on other versions like Windows 7, 8, and 11.
  • Required Hardware: An EEPROM programmer, plus an ENET Cable or ICOM for vehicle connection.
  • Required Software: BMW Standard Tools (specifically, Tool32).

Disclaimer

This is a powerful tool intended for professional use. Always create a backup of your original EEPROM data before making any changes. Incorrect use can damage the TCU. Use at your own risk.
