This package provides the original BMW and MINI WDS (Wiring Diagram System) environment for viewing factory wiring diagrams and related electrical information in a browser based interface. It is intended for workshops and advanced users who need OEM level electrical data for diagnosis, retrofits and repair planning on BMW E series and MINI R series vehicles.

Compatibility notes
The BMW WDS database in this package is designed for earlier BMW E series vehicles. Coverage focuses on models such as E38, E39, E46, E53, E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66, E70, Z4 and related platforms. MINI WDS covers early MINI models including R50, R52 and R53. Later F and G series vehicles are not included in these versions. Data content, languages and diagram style can differ between BMW and MINI sections. Function availability always depends on the selected model, production date and equipment level so some control units or options may not appear for every vehicle.

Basic usage

• Extract or mount the BMW and MINI WDS folders or images to a local hard drive or virtual CD drive
• Install the Adobe SVG plug in as described in the included readme using a Windows account with local administrator rights
• Open Internet Explorer and load the index file from the BMW or MINI WDS directory to start the application
• Choose the desired interface language from the language selection screen
• Select the vehicle model and navigate through the system tree to open wiring diagrams, connector views and component locations

Operating systems
These WDS releases were originally designed for legacy Windows platforms and Internet Explorer.

• Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and newer
• Windows 2000
• Windows XP

With correct Internet Explorer settings, Java support and the Adobe SVG plug in installed, many users also run WDS on newer Windows versions using compatibility modes, but stability and performance on later systems cannot be guaranteed.

Minimum system requirements

• CPU: Intel or AMD compatible processor 500 MHz or faster
• RAM: at least 32 MB recommended, 256 MB or more suggested for smoother browsing
• Storage: minimum 13 MB free space for WDS program files plus additional space for archives
• Display: 800 x 600 resolution or higher
• Network: internet connection required only for downloading the package, normal operation is fully offline
• User rights: local administrator rights needed to install Adobe SVG plug in and configure Internet Explorer
