This resource provides a compact NCS Expert MAN file coding utility v1.0 RC2 by trancy. The program is designed to simplify editing of FSW_PSW.MAN files used by NCS Expert so that common coding options can be toggled through a graphical interface instead of manual text editing.

NCS Expert MAN file coding tool v1.0 RC2 main window showing KOMBI parameters and aktiv settings.

Highlights
  • Reads parameter names and values from configuration data and displays them as a structured list
  • Allows quick switching between aktiv and nicht_aktiv values for many common BMW coding options
  • Automatically writes the updated FSW_PSW.MAN file into the NCS Expert WORK folder ready for coding
  • Supports both German and English user interface language through an internal language selection menu
  • Stores frequently used configurations in a dedicated data file so multiple profiles can be reused
  • Lightweight standalone executable that runs without additional frameworks on typical NCS Expert laptops

Package contents
The distribution folder contains the following files for the MAN file coding utility.
  • NCS Expert MAN-File Patcher.exe – main executable for the MAN file coding tool v1.0 RC2
  • Config.dat – configuration file that stores predefined parameter sets and user profiles
  • data.ini – settings file that defines parameter groups and value mappings
  • language.ini – language configuration file with German and English translations for the interface

Compatibility notes
This MAN file coding utility is intended for use together with BMW NCS Expert and an existing EDIABAS installation. It is not a replacement for NCS Expert or NCS Dummy but a helper that prepares FSW_PSW.MAN files before they are written back to the vehicle. Available parameters depend on the configuration data supplied in Config.dat and data.ini which are focused on common E series modules. Some newer control units or rare options might not be listed and still require manual editing or a full NCS Dummy setup.

Basic usage
  • Copy the executable and configuration files to a dedicated folder on the same system where NCS Expert is installed
  • In the Options menu set the correct NCS Expert WORK directory for example C:\NCSEXPER\WORK
  • Select the preferred interface language German or English in the language drop down list
  • Load the required configuration set then tick or untick the parameters you want to enable or disable
  • Save the changes so the tool updates the FSW_PSW.MAN file in the WORK folder and then use NCS Expert to code the module

Operating systems
The utility has been reported to run correctly on the same Windows platforms typically used for NCS Expert.
  • Windows XP 32 bit
  • Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit
  • Windows 8 32 bit and 64 bit
  • Windows 10 64 bit
Running as an administrator is recommended when NCS Expert and EDIABAS are installed in protected directories.

Minimum system requirements
  • CPU: Intel or AMD compatible processor 1.0 GHz or faster
  • RAM: 512 MB or more
  • Storage: 20 MB free disk space for program files and configuration data
  • Display: screen resolution 1024 x 768 or higher
  • Software: working installation of BMW NCS Expert and EDIABAS with access to the WORK directory
  • User rights: local administrator rights recommended for editing configuration files and folders
