ITool Radar is a small Service Location Protocol (SLP) utility used in BMW diagnostic setups to discover ICOM/VCI devices, view their status and properties, and reserve or release a device for exclusive use by ISTA, E-Sys or other tools. It can also bind SLP to a specific NIC and add extra IPs for faster discovery. (Locking/“reserving” the ICOM before diagnostics is a common step in BMW workflows.)

Highlights
- Automatic discovery of ICOM/VCI services via SLP; shows IP, state (Free/Reserved), and basic properties (e.g., firmware rev).
- One-click Reserve / Release device control to prevent session conflicts while you work in ISTA/E-Sys.
- “Bind SLP to IP” option to pick the correct network adapter in multi-NIC laptops.
- Manual “Add additional IP address” for link-local ICOMs (169.254.x.x) or custom subnets.
- Both 32-bit and 64-bit builds; portable and fast to launch.
- Included help (EN) and short text instructions for quick setup.
Package contents
- ITool_Radar_x86_and_x64.7z – portable package with both builds
- ITool_Radar_32-64bit.7z – alternate archive with the same binaries
- NOTES.txt – brief setup/usage notes
- Inside the package: x86 and x64 folders, help_EN.pdf, Instructions.txt, and an offline Java installer (JRE 6u13) for systems that need it
Basic usage
- Install/ensure Java Runtime Environment is present (the tool is Java-based).
- Start ITool Radar. In the right panel, set Bind SLP to IP to the adapter connected to the ICOM network.
- (Optional) Click Add IP address and enter the ICOM’s subnet if it uses link-local addressing (e.g., 169.254.*).
- Wait for the ICOM entry to appear (e.g., ServiceAgent – bmw-vci@ICOM-Next) and verify Device State = Free.
- Select the device and click Reserve to lock it, then launch ISTA/E-Sys and perform your work. Release the device when finished.
