Volvo UEM EEPROM Reader is a specialized, free utility developed by the community for technicians and specialists working on older Volvo vehicles, particularly the P2 platform (S60, V70, S80, etc.). Its sole purpose is to read and display critical immobilizer data from an EEPROM file that has been physically read from the car's Upper Electronic Module (UEM).

The main interface of the Volvo UEM EEPROM Reader tool, explaining its function to display IDs and key codes from a 2048-byte EEPROM file.

This tool is essential for tasks such as UEM cloning, immobilizer repairs, and extracting key data.

Key Functions:

Reads UEM Immobilizer Data: Loads a 2048-byte EEPROM file (.bin) and displays the vehicle's stored immobilizer IDs in plain text for verification.
Displays Encrypted Key Codes: Shows the encrypted data blocks corresponding to the vehicle's programmed keys.
Essential for UEM Cloning: Its primary use is to verify a successful data read from a faulty or original UEM before writing that data to a replacement (used) module. This ensures the replacement UEM will be synchronized with the car's Central Electronic Module (CEM).
Simple to Use: The interface is extremely straightforward: simply load the file, and the data is displayed.

What is the UEM?
In many Volvo models from the 2000s, the Upper Electronic Module (UEM) is a key part of the immobilizer system and is often located within the interior rearview mirror assembly. It is synchronized with the main CEM, and if it is replaced, the data must be transferred for the car to start.

Simple Workflow:

Carefully desolder and read the EEPROM chip from the Volvo's UEM using a serial programmer.

Save the data as a 2048-byte .bin file.

Open this tool and click "Open File" to load your .bin file.

The tool will display the extracted ID and key information for you to check.

You can now confidently use this verified data to program a replacement UEM.

System Compatibility
This software has been fully tested and is confirmed to be working perfectly on Windows 10 LTSC (2019).
