Important distinction: This tool is a configuration utility, not the full ISTA software package. ISTA+ (Rheingold) is usually a massive download (20GB+ unpacked).

If you have downloaded the full ISTA package (usually a .7z or .rar archive), here is the standard "Standalone" installation procedure:

1. Make sure you have 7-Zip installed.
2. Right-click the downloaded ISTA archive -> Properties -> Check "Unblock" at the bottom right if visible -> Apply.
3. Extract the archive to the root of your drive (e.g.,
   Code:

   C:\Rheingold

   ). Try to keep the path short and avoid spaces.
4. Navigate to the folder where you extracted it (e.g.,
   Code:

   C:\Rheingold\TesterGUI\bin\Release

   ).
5. Find
   Code:

   ISTAGUI.exe

   — this is the main executable.

How to use this Configuration Utility:
Once you have the files extracted, run this tool:

• Point the utility to your
  Code:

  ISTAGUI.exe

  location.
• Use the utility to register the installation paths in the Windows Registry (this fixes the "Not Registered" errors).
• Select your interface type (Ediabas settings) based on your cable (K-DCAN, ENET, or ICOM).
• Create the desktop shortcut.

Note: Don't forget to install the prerequisites! Look for a folder named "Tools", "Prereq", or "SQLiteDBs" in your download. You usually need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables and BMW Standard Tools (Ediabas) before ISTA will launch.

Please post your question in the Ford Diagnostic Software section of the forum.

Generally, if you downloaded the software from this forum, the activation instructions are listed in the first post of that specific thread or included as a text file (e.g., ReadMe.txt or Instruction.txt) inside the downloaded archive. You often need to replace files in the installation directory or run a specific раtсh tool.
