Hello, the program won't start on Windows 7x64. Can you explain how I can do it?

Hey,

Windows 7 x64 is listed as technically supported, but in practice v92.0 can be problematic on it. Here are the most common reasons it won't start and what to try:

Checklist

  • Run as Administrator — right-click the main .exe → "Run as administrator". This is mandatory, not optional.
  • .NET Framework — make sure you have .NET Framework 4.6.2 or newer installed. Windows 7 doesn't ship with it by default. Download it from Microsoft directly if missing.
  • Visual C++ Redistributables — install both x86 and x64 versions of VC++ 2013, 2015–2022 redistributable packages. Missing runtime DLLs are the #1 reason for silent launch failures.
  • Windows Updates — you need at minimum SP1 + KB2999226 (Universal C Runtime update). Without this раtсh, many modern apps simply refuse to start on Win7.
  • Compatibility mode — try right-click → Properties → Compatibility tab → set to "Windows 8" or "Windows 10" and check "Run as administrator".
  • Antivirus / Defender — temporarily disable your AV. The liсеnsе setup helper is often flagged as a false positive and gets quarantined silently, which breaks the launch chain.
  • Check the error — look in Windows Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc → Windows Logs → Application) for any error entries at the time you tried to launch. That will tell you exactly which DLL or component is failing.

Honest recommendation

If none of the above helps, the cleanest solution is to move to Windows 10 x64. Even a basic clean install on a spare partition or a VM (VirtualBox / VMware) will save you hours of troubleshooting. Version 92.0 was clearly built and tested primarily on Win10, and the dependency chain just works out of the box there.

Let us know what error you're getting (screenshot, Event Viewer log, or even just a description — does nothing happen at all, do you get a specific error dialog, does it flash and close?) and we can narrow it down further. 👍
