Introduction
SSM 4 is an OEM diagnostic and service tool for Subaru vehicles. It helps workshops run guided diagnostics, perform immobilizer registration and carry out ECU reprogramming in a preconfigured workflow.

Which Windows version is recommended?
For maximum stability during ECU flashing and diagnostics, a clean installation of Windows 10 (64-bit) is recommended.
Is it compatible with J2534 PassThru?

Setting up SSM4 is straightforward if you follow the included launcher workflow:

Quick setup steps:

  1. Extract the archive (password: binunlock.com if prompted)
  2. Review the included SSM4 installation with OpenPort.docx — it walks through the interface configuration
  3. Run ssm4_loader.exe (or launcher.exe) as Administrator
  4. Follow the installer — it will deploy SSM3, SSM4 and FlashWrite2 components from the package folders
  5. Once installed, connect your J2534 interface (OpenPort 2.0, Scanmatik 2 Pro, etc.) via USB
  6. Launch SSM4 and select your interface in the connection settings

Tips:
  • Use Windows 10 x64 for best stability, especially if you plan to do ECU reprogramming
  • Make sure you run everything with admin rights
  • If you're using an OpenPort 2.0, the included .docx file has specific driver/setup notes for that adapter — read it before installing
  • Disable antivirus temporarily during install if the loader gets flagged
