Hello from Colorado, my pseudonym is Hank Hill. I had been in the industry rebuilding wrecks and doing some service until about 15 years ago, when I switched to writing software and firmware. In terms of vehicles I'm normally working on, mostly GM and Toyota, with some Subaru and Honda. In terms of tools, usually I'll reach for a MaxiDas or MaxiSys or an older Tech II, but I've increasingly been building my own. Much of my knowledge is about stuff at least 10 years old now, so I'm looking to learn more about the new stuff, including the later secure gateway CAN and CAN FD stuff. I can offer is help on the software side (I guess everything all just talks to J2534 dongles now) and probably knowledge about older stuff, especially J1850 VPW and ALDL.
In terms of car projects, much of my focus now has been on looking at predictive maintenance literature for big trucks and industrial equipment, and seeing how much of that can be applied to light vehicles, and how far you can get with inexpensive sensors and tools, especially for complex NVH or electrical problems. As an example, I was able to take a ~$15 CAN USB bridge, and build a J2534 tool that seems to work better with Techstream than the crappy MVCI dongles floating around, and I am hoping to get it working with SSM4. I am also working on fusing data from inexpensive IMUs, GPS, microphones the way the fancy NVH gear does in a way that can be persistently deployed in a problem car over a week or two to capture gremlins that don't reproduce easily.

Hello,
My name is Masca. I own a VW Passat B6 2.0 TDI, almost all my projects are related to that car. I have experience with EDC17 remapping and reverse engineering.
I also own an Audi A5 B9.5 40 TDI, starting to dig into it and see what can I improve in that car.
I have KESS, K-TAG, VCDS, VNCI 6154A for ODIS-E, Carista for quick diagnosis on the go and OBDeleven for SFD unlock.
Starting to dig deeper into reverse engineering and generation of my own code to implement new functionality to my cars.
I really like this forum as you can get very precious software that is difficult to obtain.

No pressure, but we’d love to hear:
Your name (or nickname)
Where you're from
What vehicles or ECUs you work with
What tools you use (KESS, Autotuner, PCMFlash, etc.)
What you're looking to learn or offer
Anything fun about yourself (car project, hobby, side hustle?)

Hey!
I'm Alex from Poland. Been tuning VAG group cars for 5+ years, mainly with WinOLS and Autotuner.
Love messing with MED17 ECUs and always down to trade ideas or files.
Big fan of retro BMWs and currently working on a turbo E36 project.
Cheers!![]()

Hello everyone. My name is Mykola, and I live in Kassel, Germany.
I work with automotive electronics, diagnostics, and control unit programming. I am mainly interested in ECU/TCU, working with firmware, coding, cloning control units, troubleshooting electrical systems and CAN/LIN. networks. I work both via OBD and Bench/Boot. I use AutoTuner Master, Hexprog II, Xhorse Multi-Prog, PCMFlash, KT200, Launch, TOPDON, and other equipment. For diagnostics, I use ISTA, ODIS, VCDS, Techstream, etc.
I also develop my own software for working with automotive files and customer databases.
LiekoProf Firmware Vault (LFV) is a firmware manager that I am developing primarily for real-world work tasks. It collects and sorts files, helps quickly find the required firmware, stores different versions and MOD variants, creates the required modifications separately, and synchronizes the database between work PCs.
AutoTech Manager is a program for everyday work with customers and vehicles: cars, control units, completed jobs, prices, history, offers, and documents—so that everything is not scattered across different folders, Excel files, and conversations.
In general, what interests me most is not simply replacing a component or clearing a fault, but understanding exactly why the fault occurred and what is actually happening inside the control unit or the vehicle's network.
I am also currently going through the HWK procedure in Germany in the field of automotive electronics.
I joined the forum to gain experience and have constructive technical discussions. I think I will also have something to share.
All the best and good luck with your work!
