ISTA 4.55.40B-SCENE +PASSWORD Friends, don't forget to say thank you. I don't think it's that hard. If it's hard for you, I can set a password. Thanks.
Is this version of ISTA faster than the previous? some of them are very slow to scan cars. Any anyone advise the latest version which will scan a car at some what reasonable rate
The speed of ISTA depends on several factors, not just the software version itself. Here are the main things that affect scan speed:
Software/System side:
SSD vs HDD — running ISTA on an SSD makes a huge difference. If you're still on a spinning disk, that's likely your biggest bottleneck.
RAM — 16 GB recommended minimum; ISTA is memory-hungry.
CPU — modern multi-core helps, but SSD matters more.
Antivirus/Defender — real-time scanning can slow ISTA dramatically. Exclude the ISTA folder and workspace paths.
Windows indexing — disable it for the ISTA directories.
Connection/Interface side:
ICOM vs ENET — ICOM (especially ICOM Next) is generally faster and more stable for full vehicle scans. ENET works fine but can be slower on certain modules.
Network config — if using ENET, make sure your adapter is set to a static IP, firewall is configured, and no other network traffic is competing.
Regarding 4.55.40:
BMW does optimize the backend between versions occasionally, but major speed differences version-to-version are rare. If a particular older version felt slow, it was most likely your hardware or connection setup rather than the ISTA release itself.
Recommendation: If your current setup is slow, before changing ISTA versions, try moving your installation to an SSD and excluding it from antivirus. That alone usually cuts scan times significantly.
