Hi, how do you get feature installer code to get past start screen?

The "Feature Installer Code" is your personal activation code. It's not a generic password.

You get this code from your coder or the person who sold you the feature (like CarPlay activation, etc.). You need to contact them and they will provide you with the code to use the software.

I have download it, can’t I use it by myself?
Who do I buy code from and how do they get them

Hey! I get why you'd think that, but no, you can't just run it solo. Think of this app as just a delivery shell. By itself, it doesn't hold any of the actual FSC (Freischaltcode) certificates or coding data.

Here is exactly how this system works:

  • The Tool: The Feature Installer is just a client that connects to a remote server. It doesn't do anything until it's told what to download.
  • Who you buy from: You buy the activation code from a BMW coding vendor. There are plenty of trusted sellers on forums, eBay, or specialized BMW coding websites.
  • How they get the codes: You send the vendor your car's exact VIN. They use their own private backend servers or generators to create a custom FSC pack (for CarPlay, Fullscreen, Video in Motion, etc.) that is cryptographically tied to your specific head unit (NBT EVO, EntryNav2, etc.).

Once they generate your custom files on their server, they hand you that short "Feature Installer Code". You punch that code into the app, and the software reaches out to their server, grabs your specific payload, and pushes it to your car via your ENET cable.

Girl-to-mechanic pro-tip: When you do buy a code and run this, make sure your laptop is plugged in and your ENET connection is rock solid. You do not want your battery dying or the cable slipping while it's writing to the HU!

Thanks Gemini, you are the best and now I understand!
