GM BCM IPC ECM VIN and Configuration Utility​#

Config Lab 0.1071a is a Windows-based utility for working with identification and configuration data in General Motors control units.
It communicates with GM body control modules (BCM), instrument panel clusters (IPC) and engine control modules (ECM) via a J2534-compatible CAN interface.
The tool is aimed at professional workshops and advanced users who need to adapt replacement modules, align VIN information and service odometer data after legitimate repairs.

• Which version of Windows do you have installed (7 / 10 / 11, 32- or 64-bit)?
• Are you running ConfigLab.exe as Administrator?
• Which J2534 adapter are you using, and are its drivers installed?
• At exactly what point does it crash—when you click the button to connect to the module (BCM/IPC/ECM) after selecting the interface, or when attempting to write data?
• Is there anything in the \Logs\ folder—a log file with an error?

• Run the program strictly as Administrator (right-click → “Run as administrator”).
• Make sure that your antivirus / Windows Defender is not blocking or deleting files from the program folder—add the folder to exclusions.
• Try compatibility mode with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 (.exe properties → “Compatibility” tab).
• Make sure Visual C++ Redistributable 2015–2022 (x86 and x64) and .NET Framework 4.6+ are installed on the system.
