Bin updated Cummins Calterm — Engineering Calibration & Development Tool with a new update entry:

Cummins Calterm 5.9.1.002 (Engineering Edition)

Brief changes vs Calterm 4.7

  • Move to the Calterm V5 line with modern UI and native support for current Windows 10/11 x64 environments (better stability than legacy 4.x).
  • Broader ECM/engine coverage and updated metadata compared to 4.x (the V5 branch continues adding new product support beyond 4.7).
  • Enhanced XCP/UDS measurement & calibration behavior in V5 (e.g., DAQ handling such as relative ODT/resume features used in later V5 builds).

Any video or instructions for installation?

There is currently no specific video tutorial published for installing Calterm, but the process is fairly straightforward. Here are the general steps:

Installing Cummins Calterm 5.9.1.002

  1. Download the file from the resource page and enter the ZIP password: binunlock.com
  2. Extract all contents into a folder (avoid paths with special characters or spaces).
  3. Before installing Calterm, make sure you have the RP1210 driver for your adapter installed (Nexiq, DPA, Inline, VCX, etc.). The driver must be registered in the system for Calterm to detect it.
  4. Run the Calterm installer as administrator (right-click → Run as administrator).
  5. Follow the installation wizard using the default options.
  6. The package includes a licensing utility — run it according to the instructions included in the documentation inside the downloaded file.
  7. Open Calterm, go to the communication settings, and verify that your RP1210 adapter appears in the list of available interfaces.

Important prerequisites:
  • Windows 10 x64 (recommended, LTSC 2019 verified) or Windows 11
  • Administrator rights
  • Adapter's RP1210 driver already installed
  • Minimum 4 GB RAM, 2–4 GB of free disk space

If you encounter any issues during installation (license error, adapter not detected, etc.), describe the exact error and we will help you resolve it.

Is this package now calterm 5.9.1? and not the 4.7?
If so, does it include the License file generator or KG?

Is there a step-by-step guide to making CalTerm 5 work?

The kg value isn't found within the program, or is it from version 4?

Is there a step-by-step guide to making CalTerm 5 work?

The kg value isn't found within the program...

Good questions. Based on the resource page info:

Current version: The resource has been updated to 5.9.1.002 (V5 branch). The original 4.7 was the first release, and 5.9.1.002 is the upgrade posted on 11.11.2025.

Licensing utility: The resource description states:
Includes the application, documentation, and a licensing utility for evaluation environments.

So yes, a licensing utility should be included in the download package. However, the kеуg**/licensing tool may differ between V4 and V5 — they are separate product lines and typically use different licensing mechanisms.

Regarding your specific issue — "kg value isn't found within the program":

This likely means one of the following:
  • The licensing utility included was originally made for Calterm 4.7 and may not be compatible with the 5.9.1.002 build.
  • The V5 branch may use a different activation method (e.g., license file placement, registry entry, or a separate tool).

What I'd suggest:
  1. Check the contents of the downloaded archive carefully — look for any readme.txt, .pdf, or separate folders labeled for V5 licensing specifically.
  2. Verify whether the archive contains both versions (4.7 and 5.9.1) or only 5.9.1.
  3. If the licensing utility only targets 4.7, post back here with exactly what files/folders you see in the package — that way @Bin or someone who has it running can confirm whether a V5-specific tool is included or if an additional step is needed.

This is a fair question and others have raised it in the reviews as well (AndyTSB asked the same thing). Hopefully the resource author can clarify whether the V5 licensing utility is bundled or needs a separate approach.

Ran the Calterm 4.7 exe as admin verified software/calterm4 location
Ran Engineering .exe and theres no file cc.sn.
Checked the antivirus for quarantine no files.

Update. I was able to get thw key maker to work on 4.7. There are two of them in the install package. One under calterm 4 and another under KM4KM.
Had to first run the KM4KM. Then move license files (2) to Calterm 4 KM. It then created the cc.sn file and program opened as it should after placing in folder.

In version 4 it can be opened, but version 5 does not allow it to be opened. The question is, how can I fix this?
