It is very likely that the file extension is incorrect or the file is completely empty (0 bytes), which confuses some activators.

Please try these specific steps:

  1. Open that folder again: C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll\Application Data\
  2. In the File Explorer menu at the top, click View and make sure File name extensions is checked.
  3. Verify the file is named exactly liсеnsе.lic. If it shows as liсеnsе.lic.txt, rename it to remove the .txt part.
  4. Open the liсеnsе.lic file with Notepad.
  5. Type a random word inside (like "test") and save it.

Some patchers will throw a "Not found" error if the target file is 0 bytes. Once it has some data and the correct extension, run the асtivаtоr as Administrator again.
It did change to a "lic file" and shows 1kb. I run асtivаtоr as admin and still shows lic not found error message

If it still cannot see the file in ProgramData, the асtivаtоr might be looking in the application directory or the "current" directory.

Try these specific adjustments:

  • Copy the liсеnsе.lic file you created and paste it directly into the main installation folder as well:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Detroit Diesel\Diagnostic Link\
  • Move the асtivаtоr executable itself into that same folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Detroit Diesel\Diagnostic Link\) and run it from there.
  • Right-click the liсеnsе.lic file, go to Properties, and ensure the Read-only box is unchecked.

Some patchers are hardcoded to look for the file in the same folder where the patcher is running, rather than searching the system paths.

If moving it to the installation folder didn't work, let's try running it directly from the data folder where the liсеnsе file actually lives.

Please try this exact sequence:

  • Copy the асtivаtоr/kеуgеn executable.
  • Paste it into this folder:
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll\Application Data\
  • Right-click the асtivаtоr inside that folder and select "Run as Administrator".

If it still says "Lic not found", check if you have a folder named Client instead of Drumroll in that path:
Code:
C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Client\Application Data\
If so, move the liсеnsе file and асtivаtоr there.

Finally, make sure the "Detroit Diesel liсеnsе Manager" service is stopped in Windows Services (services.msc) before running the tool, as it might be locking the file access.

Did those steps, no luck. Detroit Diesel liсеnsе Manager is not showing in services

If the service isn't showing, that is actually good (it means it's not locking the file).

Since moving the file didn't work, the асtivаtоr is likely looking for a different filename or a different specific path that varies by installer version.

Please try these two specific fixes:

1. Rename the file
Go back to
Code:
C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll\Application Data\
Rename liсеnsе.lic to liсеnsе.xml.
Run the асtivаtоr again. Some versions of the tool are hardcoded to look for an .xml extension.

2. Check the PKI folder
If the above fails, look for this folder:
Code:
C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\PKI\Balance\
If it exists, copy your liсеnsе file into there as well. If the folder doesn't exist, create it manually and put the file inside.

3. Windows Defender
Double-check your Windows Security / Defender history. Even if you run as Admin, Defender often silently blocks the "Read" action of these activators without deleting the file, causing the "Not Found" error. Turn off "Real-time protection" temporarily and try again.

Still nothing. I think im just going to give up at this point

Still nothing. I think im just going to give up at this point

Don't give up yet, this is usually the last hurdle. The "Lic not found" error often happens because the асtivаtоr looks at the Windows Registry to determine where the file *should* be. If the registry key is missing or points to the wrong drive, the асtivаtоr will fail even if you are running it from the correct folder.

Please check this registry key:

  1. Press Windows Key + R, type
    Code:
    regedit
    and hit Enter.
  2. Navigate to this path:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll
  3. Look for a String value on the right side named Application Data.
  4. Double-click it and ensure the Value data is exactly:
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll\Application Data\

If that key does not exist, or points to a different drive letter, the асtivаtоr cannot work. Correct the path in the registry, and then run the асtivаtоr again.

If that is all correct and it still fails, please post exactly which version of DDDL you installed (e.g., 8.13, 8.18) and the name of the асtivаtоr file you are using. There might be a version mismatch.

There is no application data showing. I installed 8.22

There is no application data showing. I installed 8.22

That is exactly the problem. Without that registry entry, the асtivаtоr doesn't know where to look, regardless of where you put the file.

You need to create that value manually. Since you are already in the Registry Editor at that location (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll), follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the empty white space on the right side of the window.
  2. Select New > String Value.
  3. Name the new value exactly: Application Data
  4. Double-click this new "Application Data" entry you just created.
  5. In the "Value data" box, paste this path exactly:
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll\Application Data\
  6. Click OK.

Alternatively, you can create a text file, paste the code below into it, save it as fix.reg, and double-click it to add the data automatically:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Detroit Diesel\Drumroll]
"Application Data"="C:\\ProgramData\\Detroit Diesel\\Drumroll\\Application Data\\"

Once that registry key exists, run the асtivаtоr as Administrator again. It should find the path immediately.
