Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with an ECU/immobilizer issue after an engine swap on my 2007 Skoda Octavia 1Z Scout 2.0 FSI 4x4.

The original engine was a BVX, but it failed and I replaced it with a BLX donor engine.

The current setup is:
  • Car: Skoda Octavia 1Z Scout, 2007, 2.0 FSI 4x4
  • Original engine: BVX
  • Replacement engine: BLX
  • Donor engine wiring harness: BLX
  • Lambda sensors: BLX
  • Donor ECU: from the BLX engine
  • Original ECU: from the BVX engine
  • ECU part number: 06F 906 056 ...
The car currently runs because I put the original BVX ECU back in. With the donor BLX ECU installed, the engine starts briefly / does not remain running because the immobilizer is active.

I would like to use the BLX donor ECU with the BLX engine, rather than continuing to run the original BVX ECU.
I have already read the EEPROMs from both ECUs using a CH341B programmer and attached both dumps to this post.

I have therefore got:
  • EEPROM dump from the original BVX ECU
  • EEPROM dump from the BLX donor ECU

I have compared the two dumps and can identify the VIN and immobilizer ID data, but I cannot determine the PIN/SKC from the dumps myself.

What I am looking for#

Could someone with experience with these Bosch/VAG ECUs please help me determine:
  1. Which software/tool can correctly decode the PIN/SKC from these EEPROM dumps, if possible?
  2. Alternatively, can someone explain the correct procedure for obtaining the required PINs and adapting the donor ECU to the car using VCDS?
  3. Is there anything specific that needs to be transferred from the original ECU to the donor ECU besides the immobilizer adaptation?
  4. Are these two ECUs compatible from an immobilizer/adaptation perspective?
I am not trying to bypass the immobilizer on somebody else's vehicle. This is my own car and I have both the original ECU and the donor ECU on the bench. My goal is simply to get the donor ECU legitimately adapted to the vehicle after the engine replacement.

The EEPROMs are attached as read directly with the CH341B. If somebody recognizes the exact EEPROM/ECU format and can tell me what software supports it, that would already be a huge help.

Many thanks!
