Welcome to this world. It is a very interesting field, but it requires quite a bit of studying.

To give you an idea of what to expect from this particular software before "getting into it":

  • Type of Software: Based on the name and description, "ECUS PROG" is usually a reference database, not software for communicating with or programming the car. In other words, it is an offline library with ECU photos, pinout diagrams (where to connect the cables for boot, bench, etc.), and sometimes hardware repair guides.
  • Vehicle Coverage: These databases are usually compilations of the help documentation from professional tools (such as K-Tag, Trasdata, Autotuner, etc.). Therefore, they usually cover a wide range of European, Asian, and American brands up to the compilation date of this "v1".

The best way to know exactly what it supports is to download it and explore it. Since it is a database, you will be able to browse through the makes and models to see what information it includes.

It is a good resource to start becoming familiar with the different types of control units (Bosch, Continental, Delphi, etc.) and how they are connected on the bench.

To download it, you need to go back to the first message in this same thread (Bin's initial post).

You will usually find a button (often orange or blue) at the top right of the resource description block that says Download or Go to download.

Click there and it will take you to the download page or start the process directly.

Enjoy it!

You'll see that it gets you out of more than one bind, especially for getting a second opinion on the wiring when the documentation for your main tool isn't clear or you don't have internet in the workshop.

I'm glad it's useful to you.

A little tip for when you start using it: although these databases are great, always check with a multimeter the power (12V) and ground (GND) pins before connecting your programming equipment.

Sometimes there are hardware revisions of the same ECU that slightly change the pinout, and it's better to be safe than sorry and burn a tool or the ECU itself.
