You need to download the software provided in this resource to calculate the PIN yourself. That is what the tool is for.

Also, please note that VINs use the number 0 (zero), not the letter 'O'.

If the software returns "nothing found", it means this specific VIN is not included in the tool's internal database. Since this is an offline calculator, it relies on a static database that doesn't cover every single vehicle produced, especially if the car was manufactured after the database was compiled.

For an Astra H (which this VIN appears to be), if the VIN calculator fails, your best bet is to read the security code directly from the car using an EEPROM programmer or a diagnostic tool like Op-Com or CarProg. You can often extract it from the Display (DIS) or Instrument Cluster (IPC) dump.

Since the offline calculator didn't work for you, you have to read it directly from the car's modules. Here are your main options:

  • Via OBD Port: If you have a tool like CarProg or FVDI, you can often read the PIN code directly from the Engine ECU, Instrument Cluster (IPC), or Display (DIS) via the OBD2 port.
  • EEPROM Dump: If you have an EEPROM programmer (like CH341A, xProg, etc.), you can remove the Display unit or Instrument Cluster, read the memory chip (usually an M35080 or 93C66), and post the dump file here. We can calculate the code from the file.
  • Dealer: You can go to an Opel/Vauxhall dealership with your registration papers and ID to order the "Car Pass".

If you do not have the VIN number of the donor car (the car the used UEC came from), this software cannot help you. The PIN is tied to the specific unit.

To get the PIN from the used UEC, you must read the memory directly from the hardware.

  • Open the used UEC unit.
  • Locate the EEPROM chip. It is usually a 95040 or 25040 SPI memory chip.
  • Read the chip using a programmer (like CH341A, Orange5, etc.).
  • Upload the .bin (dump) file here.

Once you post the dump, we can extract the PIN code for you so you can reset the UEC and program it to your car.

Regarding reading the EEPROM from the UEC:

The memory chip inside the Astra H UEC is usually a ST95040 (SPI EEPROM).

However, there is a significant problem:
The UEC is constructed as a "sandwich" of multiple circuit boards and metal fuse rails. Disassembling it to reach the PCB where the EEPROM is located is extremely difficult and you run a very high risk of destroying the unit permanently. The contacts often break when trying to separate the layers.

Recommended Solution:
Instead of opening it and using a wire programmer, it is much safer to read the PIN via the external connector pins using a specialized diagnostic tool that supports "reading via K-Line/CAN".

Tools that can do this without opening the unit:
  • CarProg (very common for this)
  • FVDI / SVCI
  • I/O Terminal
  • Smok

If you have CarProg, you can connect it to the UEC pins on the bench:

i have car prog. did you have picture you can show where to connect? i am not shure what conector and wher you mean. And maby picture where in the varprog software i should use. i am newbea on this. Thanks so mutch

I apologize for the confusion, but I must correct my previous suggestion regarding CarProg and the UEC.

CarProg does not support reading the PIN code from the Astra H UEC via the external connector pins.

While CarProg can read PINs via OBD/Connector from Engine ECUs (Hybrid), Displays (DIS), and Radios, the UEC (Underhood Electrical Center) is not supported in the standard CarProg software menus for PIN extraction via the connector.

Since the VIN decoder failed, you are left with only two options:

Option 1: Open the Unit (High Risk)
You must disassemble the UEC to reach the EEPROM chip inside.
  • This is very difficult because the UEC is a "sandwich" of fuse rails and plastic layers.
  • You have to remove all fuses and relays, then carefully separate the layers.
  • If you succeed, you will find a 95040 or 25040 EEPROM chip on the PCB.
  • You can then use CarProg with the A4 EEPROM Clip adapter.
  • In CarProg software: Go to EEPROM -> 95xx -> 95040 -> Read.
Warning: Many people break the internal contacts when trying to open these units.

Option 2: Specialized Tools
To read it without opening, you need much more expensive hardware than CarProg, such as:
  • I/O Terminal (Simens/Bosch tool)
  • Smok UHDS

Summary:
Since you are a beginner ("newbie"), I strongly advise against trying to open the UEC, as you will likely destroy it. Since CarProg cannot read it via the pins, and the VIN decoder failed, you might be better off returning this used UEC and buying one that is already "Reset" (Virginized) or comes with the Security Code provided by the seller.

Here is the standard wiring color code for the CarProg A4 adapter when connecting to a 95040 (SPI) EEPROM chip.

Important: Please verify your specific adapter with a multimeter if possible, as some "clone" cables use different colors. However, this is the standard layout for 99% of CarProg units:

CarProg A4 Cable Colors -> 95040 Chip Pins

  • Blue -> Pin 1 (CS)
  • Orange -> Pin 2 (SO)
  • Grey -> Pin 3 (WP)
  • Brown -> Pin 4 (GND)
  • Green -> Pin 5 (SI)
  • Yellow -> Pin 6 (SCK)
  • White -> Pin 7 (HOLD)
  • Red -> Pin 8 (VCC / +5V)

Chip Pin Layout (Top View)
Look for the small dot or the beveled edge on the chip to identify Pin 1.

You forgot to attach the file. We cannot verify the PIN without seeing the data from the EEPROM.

Please upload the .bin dump you read from the 95040 chip.

If you cannot upload the file directly, open it in a Hex Editor, copy the first 64 bytes (lines 0000 to 0040), and paste them here in a `

The file is not visible in your post. Please try attaching it again, or simply copy the data directly into your reply.

To do this:
1. Open your .bin file in a Hex Editor (like HxD).
2. Copy the first 4-5 lines of data (offsets 0000 to 0040).
3. Paste them here inside a code block.

Without seeing the data, it is impossible to confirm if 5878 is the correct PIN, as the code is stored in an encrypted format in the UEC.
