VAGHelper neXt — BCM Lighting & SGO Coding Toolkit#

2.0.0.7 — edit PQ/MQB BCM light schemes, inspect SGO firmware info, tweak steering curves

Quick intro
VAGHelper neXt (VAGHelper.X) is a specialist utility focused on VAG body control module (BCM) lighting configuration and related file tools. It explains and edits light scheme bytes for PQ35/46-era BCMs, adds a steering-curve editor, and reads useful metadata from .SGO firmware packages. Function availability varies by platform and unit firmware.

Top program!

Absolutely. It is a great tool for editing BCM lighting configurations without dealing with raw hex data. The SGO viewer feature is also very useful for checking firmware versions before flashing.

Indeed. It is a lifesaver for PQ35 retrofits (like LED tails on a Golf Mk6 or Octavia 1Z).

Just a quick tip for anyone new to this tool: Always save your original Long Coding before writing anything.

If you are messing with Byte 18, remember that once it is set to 00 (masked) in the actual BCM, you can't see the real value via standard OBD diagnostics (like VCDS) anymore. You need a tool like this or VCP to calculate the correct hex value or write the parameterization directly.

Are you planning to use the Steering Curve Editor as well, or just the lighting functions?

Hello,

I'm interested in using VAGHelper neXt for a specific project and have a few questions about its capabilities.

My vehicle is a VW Golf VII with a steering rack 3Q0909144K (hardware 3Q0909144H, EPS_MQB_ZFELS system). My goal is to achieve an ultra-light steering feel by modifying the steering assist curves. I currently have a VCP interface for reading and flashing files.

I've read that VAGHelper includes a steering curve editor for MQB platforms. My questions are:

Compatibility: Is the steering curve editor fully compatible with my 3Q0909144K unit? Has anyone here successfully edited curves on this specific hardware (3Q0 series)?

Workflow: I plan to:

Extract my current parameterization (SGO file) with VCP.

Open and modify the steering maps with VAGHelper.

Export the modified file and flash it back with VCP.
Is this the correct procedure? Can VAGHelper export a file in a format (SGO or similar) that VCP can write directly?

Availability: What is the current price and how can I purchase or access the full version of the tool?

Any guidance or experience shared would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
