Hello everyone, I’m a beginner. I installed the hardware related to blind spots. Could someone please tell me how to program a G-platform G20 325 to enable blind-spot monitoring and door-collision warnings?

Hello, on the G20, this function cannot be enabled reliably by simply changing a few FDLs. The prerequisite is that the hardware and modules must first be recognized by the vehicle.

The general approach is:

  • Confirm that the left and right rear radar/blind-spot modules, mirror warning lights, wiring harnesses, fuse power supply, and CAN/FlexRay connections are all correct
  • Use ISTA or E-Sys to read the complete vehicle and confirm that the relevant radar modules have no communication faults
  • Add the corresponding SA code to the FA/VO according to the vehicle configuration. The common blind-spot/lane-change warning is 5AG Lane Change Warning, but the exact configuration depends on your vehicle's market and original equipment
  • VO Code the relevant modules, such as BDC, HU, KOMBI/DKOMBI, SAS/KAFAS, and the radar-related ECUs
  • Then use ISTA for initialization and fault clearing; perform radar calibration/adjustment if necessary

Functions such as door collision warning/open-door warning also generally depend on the same set of rear-side radars and the vehicle's software configuration. They may not appear simply by adding 5AG; the corresponding Driving Assistant configuration code and vehicle I-Level support may also be required.

Send the following information first so it is possible to determine which VO to add and which modules need to be coded:

  • G20 year, 325i/325Li, left-hand drive or right-hand drive
  • Original vehicle equipment: KAFAS? ACC? Is 5AS/5AT/5AU/5AG already present?
  • A list of the hardware you installed, especially the part numbers of the left and right radar modules
  • A screenshot of ECU tree as read in E-Sys/ISTA
  • The current FA/VO option-code list
  • A screenshot of the ISTA fault codes

If the radar modules are not visible at all in diagnostics, do not rush into VO coding. First check the power supply, grounding, and bus wiring.
