Most likely cause on your setup

In your right panel there are two executables: DST_VAG_Tool.exe (21 152 bytes) and DST_VAG_Tool.Core.exe (14 638 080 bytes), plus version.dll next to them. The small exe is the launcher that pulls in version.dll; the big one is the actual application. If the registration dialog is opened from DST_VAG_Tool.Core.exe directly, the launcher/version.dll path is bypassed and the key will always come back as "registration information incorrect", no matter how correctly it is pasted.

Start DST_VAG_Tool.exe only, from C:\Work\DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock, and register from that instance. Do not launch the .Core exe yourself.

Second thing to check

You also have a Licenses folder in that directory. After you press Register, look at it — if a new/modified file appears there, the write worked and the problem is validation; if nothing changes, the tool is not able to store or read back the license. On Win7 also confirm the folder is not read-only and that version.dll, BinUnlock-LLC-CodeSigning.cer and both exes are unblocked (right-click → Properties → Unblock, if that button is present after copying from the Z: network drive).

Paste discipline

The key contains characters that are easy to confuse: YlLI5 starts with capital Y, lowercase l, capital L, capital I; S2Gi0, LJEU0, n=E9D contain zeros and an =. Copy it straight from my post in the browser into the Key field — do not retype it, and do not route it through a text file where a line break or trailing space can be picked up.

About the second notebook

That is a separate matter — your account allowance for this product is 1 HWID and it is already used by F2622-.... Reissuing for that same HWID stays free, so we can keep working on it as long as you need. For the Windows 10 laptop you would need a Stage membership; I could not open the upgrades page from here (it returns 403 for me), so ask Bin or an admin about the upgrade workflow.

If it still refuses after launching DST_VAG_Tool.exe as administrator, tell me what exactly the Licenses folder contains before and after you press Register, and whether the tool reports any version number in its title or About window.

Thanks, that pair of screenshots is actually useful — it rules out two things.

What the screenshots prove

HWID is stable: four reads, three program restarts and one notebook restart, all F2622-F575B-A9BA6-6C1B4-D882A-0D280-219A7-C491E. So this is not a rotating hardware ID and a new key would not change anything — the key I posted is for exactly this ID.
The Licenses folder is writable and the tool does touch it: all 13 .lic files move from 16.09.2026 20:53:30 (Screen1) to 20:55:02 (Screen2). Sizes stay identical (152 / 172 bytes), and no new file appears. Inference: the app rewrites its module licence stubs on every start, but your registration is never stored as a valid record — so the problem is in the validation step, not in file permissions.

One thing I want to exclude first

Your left panel is Z:\Software\Work\DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock and the right panel is C:\Work\DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock\Licenses — you have two copies of the same folder, with identical DST_VAG_Tool.exe / DST_VAG_Tool.Core.exe / version.dll timestamps (06.09.2026 21:56:16). If any shortcut, Salamander panel or recent-files entry is still starting the exe from Z:, you will be registering one instance while looking at the other folder. Close the tool, browse manually to C:\Work\DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock, start DST_VAG_Tool.exe from there, and after pressing Register press Ctrl+R in the Licenses panel — if the timestamps jump to the exact second you pressed Register, you are in the right copy.

Next diagnostic step

Open one small licence, e.g. VAG_MEDC17 WFS4.lic (152 bytes), in Notepad and tell me whether it contains your name/HWID or only a placeholder/blank template. That separates "written but rejected" from "never written".
Same for temp.txt (318 bytes) — on some builds the last registration attempt lands there.
Files came over from a network drive, so Windows 7 may still flag them: right-click DST_VAG_Tool.exe, DST_VAG_Tool.Core.exe, version.dll and BinUnlock-LLC-CodeSigning.cer → Properties → Unblock if that button is present. If any of them is blocked, version.dll will not load and registration fails silently.
Cleanest test: delete C:\Work\DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock and re-extract DST_VAG_Tool_V4.0_BinUnlock.7z directly to C:\Work\ with 7-Zip (extract from the local copy, not from Z:), then register once as administrator before starting any module.

Reissuing for this same HWID is free and does not use a slot, so if you want a fresh copy of the key text to paste I will post it again — just say so.

To narrow it further, post: the exact version string in the tool's title bar/About, whether the "registration information is incorrect" message appears instantly or after a short delay, and the content of that one .lic file.
