Hello,

A couple of things stand out from the file you attached before anyone can do anything useful with it:

  • The name says OBD ... slave ... RS3-maps.bin, and the sampled header, middle and tail regions are all FF with 0.00 bits/byte entropy. That's consistent with a partial / calibration-only dump inside a 2 MB container, not a full flash. The only real content the string scan picked up is Renault part-number data (RD9970 / RD997010, 10169360AA, CARD9970RD99700010197627AA) plus map-looking byte runs.
  • A slave OBD read is fine for a normal Stage 1 style edit if your tool writes it back and fixes the checksum, but it is a poor base for hunting overrun maps by hand, because you have no code area to reference.

What pop & bang actually is on EMS3110 (general, not read from your file — those maps are not identified in what was extracted):

  • Overrun fuel cut (DFCO) — raise the cut-in RPM / delay or disable the injection cut on decel so fuel keeps going in.
  • Ignition retard in the overrun/low-load region — this is what moves combustion into the manifold and makes the noise.
  • Throttle / bypass air on overrun — a small opening is needed, otherwise there's no air to burn and you get nothing.
  • Lambda control and adaptation disabled/frozen in that zone, otherwise you'll set fuel trim and cat efficiency codes.
  • Optionally a hardcut limiter for bang on the limiter, separate job from decel burble.

Also note: the Hardcut Limiter tool in the Resources section here is VAG ME/MED only, it will not touch an EMS3110 file, so don't waste time on it.

Fair warning as well — on a 180 with the stock cat, aggressive overrun fuelling and heavy retard will cook the catalyst and can damage exhaust valves/turbine. Keep it mild if the car is still catted.

To move this forward, please post:

  • Exact tool used for the read and the planned write (KESS, MPPS, Bitbox, MagicMotorsport, PCMflash...), and whether it's master or slave
  • Whether you can do a full read (or bench/boot) instead of this partial one
  • The ECU software/calibration ID from the diag tool, and the original untouched file (not a maps-only export)
  • Gearbox (manual or EDC), and current exhaust / cat status
  • Whether you already have a DAMOS or a WinOLS project for this SW, or you're starting from a blank auto-search

With a full original read and the SW ID, it's realistic to locate the overrun fuel cut and ignition tables by comparison. With this FF-padded partial, it isn't.

file readed with autotuner , file is decrypted so is master file NR (normal read) and the file have stage2 in , so its not the original file.

Fair enough — then the naming is just misleading (the file is literally called ...OBD_NR.slave RS3-maps.bin, which is why I flagged it). Two things to keep apart though:

What I can actually see vs. what you're telling me
The attachment sampler only reads the header, a middle window (~0xFFF40) and the tail — all three were FF. That doesn't prove the whole file is empty, but it does mean the populated area is a limited window inside the 2 MB container, not a wall-to-wall dump. Open it in a hex editor and tell me the first and last non-FF offsets; that instantly tells us whether you have code + cal, or only the calibration block padded out to 2 MB. On EMS3110 an OBD NR read usually gives you the cal region, while the code/boot area stays FF — which matters here, because overrun/DFCO logic is easier to nail when you can cross-check against code or a proper DAMOS.

For the burble itself, the real question is what map data you have
Being master and decrypted only means you can edit and Autotuner will re-checksum on write. It doesn't give you map positions. So:

  • Do you have a DAMOS / A2L / WinOLS project for RD997010 (the CARD9970RD99700010197627AA ident in your file), or are you working blind with map finder?
  • Since the file is already Stage 2, get the matching stock RD9970 calibration and run a WinOLS compare. That won't find burble maps for you, but it tells you exactly which regions the previous tuner touched, so you don't stack changes on top of someone else's edits.

The functional blocks you need to hit on this ECU family (general Continental EMS behaviour, not read out of your file):

  • Overrun fuel cut re-entry/exit thresholds — you need injection to continue (or resume much earlier) on decel.
  • Ignition retard in the low-load / decel zone — this is what actually makes the noise.
  • Decel throttle/bypass air — without a small throttle opening there's nothing to burn, this is the part most people skip and then wonder why it's silent.
  • Lambda closed loop + adaptation frozen in that zone, plus misfire/cat monitoring, otherwise you'll collect P0420/P030x and long-term trim drift.

Post the non-FF offset range and confirm whether you have a DAMOS or just map finder — and if Autotuner offers you a bench/BSL full read on this ECU, do that one instead. A full read makes this job realistic; a cal-only slice makes it guesswork.

Still here — nobody has posted a ready solution because there isn't a one-click patch for this ECU. The tools in the Resources section that do "pops and bangs" (the Hardcut Limiter one) are VAG ME/MED only, so they won't touch a Continental EMS31xx file.

Also, note the questions from my last post are still open, and they're exactly what's blocking anyone from helping you concretely:

  • First and last non-FF offsets of your 2 MB file (hex editor, 10 seconds). Sampler saw FF at header, ~0xFFF40 and tail, so I still don't know if you have code + cal or only the cal block padded out.
  • Do you have a DAMOS / A2L / WinOLS project for RD997010 (ident in your file: CARD9970RD99700010197627AA)? Or are you working blind with map finder?
  • Do you have the matching stock RD9970 file for a compare? Your file already has Stage 2 in it, so without a compare you risk stacking edits on top of the previous tuner's work.

On the actual job, so you know what you're asking for — burble on this family is not a single map, it's a small group of changes in the overrun region:

  • DFCO / injection cut on decel — delay or suppress the cut so fuel is still delivered off throttle.
  • Ignition retard in that same low-load / decel zone — this is what puts the combustion into the manifold.
  • Throttle or bypass air on overrun — without a small opening there's simply no air to burn and you get nothing audible.
  • Lambda / adaptation and cat protection frozen or masked in that zone, otherwise you'll set trim and cat efficiency DTCs.

Realistically, on EMS3110 with no DAMOS this is bench-and-log work, not a file someone drops in a post. If you want a usable result quickly, either source an A2L/DAMOS for RD997010, or accept that a proper calibrator has to do it with datalogging on the car.

Post those three items (offsets, DAMOS yes/no, stock file yes/no) and it becomes a much more answerable request for the people here with EMS31xx experience.

[Note: found a DAMOS, no stock file, doesn't know how to work with the file]

Good, that's real progress — with the DAMOS you can actually start locating maps by name instead of guessing offsets. Here's the practical workflow:

  • Open WinOLS, load your Stage 2 bin as the project file.
  • Go to Project → Damos/Kennwortdatei (or "Load characteristic file") and point it to the DAMOS you found. WinOLS will try to auto-match the address base — if the DAMOS was made for the same software version (RD997010 / the CAL-ID in your file), most map addresses should resolve directly. If addresses look wrong (empty or garbage curves), the DAMOS is for a different SW version and offsets won't line up 1:1.
  • Once maps resolve, use Find map by name / Map list to search for terms like:
    • "Schub" / "Overrun" / "DFCO" (fuel cut off)
    • "Zündwinkel Schub" / "Ignition overrun"
    • "Drosselklappe Schub" / "throttle overrun" or bypass air
    • "Lambda" freeze/adaptation enable in overrun

That's where the actual burble maps live on this family — there's no single "pop and bang" checkbox.

Two things before you touch anything:
  • Since your file is already Stage 2 with unknown edits, do a byte-level compare against a stock file first so you know what's already been changed — but you said you don't have stock. Without it, work map-by-map and note original values as you go, so you can back out changes if something misfires.
  • After editing, checksum correction — does your Autotuner tool handle EMS3110 checksum automatically on write, or do you need a separate checksum tool? That determines whether you edit directly in the file you'll flash, or edit a copy and re-merge.

What's the DAMOS you found — same RD997010 ident, or a different CAL-ID? And is your WinOLS able to open this bin directly, or does it need a project/ecoding file too? That tells us if the addressing will actually match.

Thanks, I opened the info from the OLS you attached.

Important point: this is not really a French DAMOS from what is visible. The project says:

  • Renault Megane III RS 250
  • EMS3110
  • 237100409R
  • RD9A197000000
  • language shown: English
  • hexdump area visible: 000000-01FFFF

So search in WinOLS with English partial words, not French/German.

Try these searches in the map list:

  • Injection / fuel cut: cut, fuel, inj, injection, decel, overrun
  • Ignition: ign, spark, advance, retard, angle
  • Air / throttle: throttle, air, idle, flow
  • Lambda / catalyst: lambda, rich, closed loop, cat, catalyst
  • Activation limits: rpm, threshold, temp, timer, delay, enable

Do not touch maps like c_cpu_load, ccp, cam, crk, checksum, C_ROM_CKS_CAL_H/L — those are not for pop/bang.

Also be careful: this OLS is for RS250 RD9A197000000. Your earlier file had identifiers around RD997010 / CARD9970RD99700010197627AA, so the OLS may be only a reference or may need offset correction. Do not copy values blindly.

Next step: post a screenshot of WinOLS map list after searching:

Code:
cut
inj
decel
overrun
ign
spark
throttle
lambda

And also show the address/value window for any maps found. Then I can tell you which ones are useful for pop/bang and which ones to ignore.

Yes, normal — cut gives a lot of results because it finds diagnostics, protections, bench tests, overboost cut, fuel cut, ignition cut, etc.

From your screenshots, the interesting part for pop/bang is mainly this one:

TqSefTtr_Dructu
Description shown: injection cut deceleration...

And also:

TqSetFtr_Dructx
Description shown: delay before injection cut / delay table between injection cut condition and injection cut request

These are much more relevant than the others.

Do not touch for now:

  • AbsStCtl_Prscxx = overboost / manifold pressure cut protection
  • ClFwTsp_Injctx = bench mode injector cut
  • DgDtfMng / DgDqtMon / InCli... = diagnostics
  • IGREIgnitiondiagnosis = diagnostic switch, not pop/bang map
  • cam / crank / sensor / CCP maps = not related

For next step, open and screenshot these maps with values/axes visible:

  • TqSefTtr_Dructu around addresses 0208C, 02094, 020A0, 020AA
  • TqSetFtr_Dructx around 020BA and 1634C
  • IGRE_Ignition_multiple_spark around 009C5, 009C9, 009CE, 009D8

The logic is:

  • TqSefTtr_Dructu / Dructx = when ECU cuts injection on deceleration
  • Ignition / spark maps = what timing is used in that zone
  • For pop/bang you need to delay/suppress decel injection cut and have ignition retard / combustion late enough

Also remember: this OLS is for RD9A197000000 RS250. If your car file is different SW, use it as reference only until you confirm the maps line up correctly. Post the opened maps, not only the list, and I can tell you which ones are useful.
