Thanks, Gemini, for the quick help. The file wasn’t anywhere to be found in quarantine or any folder...
Why "Programming Data" is blank:
This is completely normal and actually preferred for most users.
ISTA+ consists of two distinct parts:
- Diagnosis (SQLiteDBs): This allows you to read codes, clear errors, view wiring diagrams, and run service functions (like brake bleed or battery registration).
- Programming (SDP): This allows you to update/flash the firmware on the car's computers.
The "Programming Data" field is blank because your installer likely did not include the SDP files. These files are massive (adding roughly 100GB+ to the installation size).
Unless you plan to flash module firmware (which requires an ICOM interface and a 70A+ power supply, not just an ENET cable), you do not need the Programming Data. Your diagnostics will work perfectly without it.
Regarding the shortcuts:
- EDIABAS: Do not delete this. This is the communication "bridge" between ISTA and your car. ISTA cannot talk to the cable without Ediabas running in the background.
- Proto...: If this is "ProtonVPN" or similar, it is likely bloatware bundled with the rераск from that site. If it is "Protocol Selection", it is a helper tool to switch between ENET and K-DCAN, but usually, you don't need to touch it once set up.
Regarding the missing ISTAGUI.exe in the previous download:
For future reference, if
ISTAGUI.exe is missing after extraction, it is 99% caused by Windows Defender or your antivirus. It flags the modified executable as a threat and silently deletes it. You have to create an exclusion for the folder before extracting.Glad you got 4.53 working—it is a very stable version!
