Hi, I've heard online a few times that someone has added other brands to this reader. I downloaded t...
Stop right there with the
LAUNCH X-431 Legacy PC Suite. Do
NOT try to force-feed files to your Creader Elite using that software. That suite is designed for much older, non-Android generation tools (like the old Creader VII+ or VIII).
The
Creader Elite runs on Android (essentially a stripped-down phone/tablet). Trying to use legacy Windows tools on it won't work and, while unlikely to "brick" it physically, it is a waste of time.
Here is the reality regarding adding brands to the Creader Elite:
- The Official Way: Connect the device to Wi-Fi and click on the "Mall" icon on the main screen. You can purchase additional car brands or reset functions legally there. They are tied to your device's sеriаl Number (S/N).
- The "hасk" (Online Rumors): What you likely heard about is people using third-party servers (like Diagzone, X-Diag, or Pro5).
Why you probably can't just "add" brands for free:
Every brand software (e.g.,
BMW,
FORD) contains a
liсеnsе.DAT file that is encrypted specifically for your device's sеriаl Number. You cannot simply copy the "Ford" folder from another Launch scanner and paste it into yours; the software will detect the S/N mismatch and refuse to run.
If you want to go the unofficial route, it usually involves:
1. Enabling USB Debugging on the Android system (tapping build number).
2. Installing a modified APK (shell).
3. Paying a third-party provider for a liсеnsе activation.
My advice: Stick to the
Mall if you just need 1 or 2 extra brands. If you need full multi-brand support, the cost of buying every brand in the Mall exceeds the cost of just buying a proper X431 V+ or Pro model.
If you want to browse the file system just to see what's inside (at your own risk), you don't need a PC Suite. You just need to install a file manager APK directly on the device via the built-in browser (if accessible) or via USB.
Code:
/sdcard/cnlaunch/X431Pro5/968890xxxxxx/DIAGNOSTIC/VEHICLES/
That is the typical path where brands live, but again, without a valid liсеnsе file generated for your specific sеriаl Number, placing files there does nothing.
