Important warning#

Read before using anything from this archive.

  • This archive is intended for recovery/testing of your own hardware only.
  • No support for stolen devices, account abuse, credit abuse, or commercial misuse.
  • Make a full backup of your original data before writing anything.
  • Do not blindly write files if you do not understand the hardware, chip type, programmer, voltage, or wiring.
  • Wrong wiring, wrong voltage, or wrong dump can permanently damage the interface.
  • After the interface is working again, do not resync it again. Use it wisely.
  • Use at your own risk. Nobody is responsible for damaged hardware, lost data, failed recovery attempts, lost credits, or bricked devices.

Notes for users#

  • This is not a spoon-feeding thread.
  • Different users may have different programmers, adapters, clips, wiring and hardware revisions.
  • Read the included notes and check all connections before doing anything.
  • Ask specific technical questions only after reading and making backups.
  • Do not ask for complete zero-to-hero instructions if you have never used a programmer before.

Solid resource for anyone with a blocked or banned MPVI3 sitting on the shelf.

A few notes for anyone about to attempt this:

  • CH341A voltage mоd — the stock CH341A outputs 5 V on the data lines. The SPI flash on the MPVI3 board is 3.3 V. If your CH341A hasn't been modded (or you're not using a 1.8 V/3.3 V adapter board), you risk killing the flash chip or nearby components. Verify voltage with a multimeter before clipping onto anything.
  • SOIC clip contact — poor clip contact is the #1 cause of bad reads. Always do at least two consecutive reads and compare checksums (MD5/SHA1). If they don't match, reseat the clip and try again. Never write until you have two identical reads.
  • Backup first — even if the device is already banned, your original dump still contains the unique serial/identity block. Save it. If you ever need to go back or if a recovery dump doesn't work, that original is your only lifeline.
  • NeoProgrammer chip selection — make sure you select the exact flash chip part number (read it off the chip with magnification). Choosing the wrong chip ID can result in a partial or corrupted write even if the process "completes" without errors.
  • Post-recovery — as mentioned in the warning, once the interface is alive again, do not connect it to HP Tuners with an internet connection and let it resync/update. It will get flagged and blocked again immediately. Use it offline or with firewall rules blocking HPT's servers.

Good archive — the included pinouts and video walkthroughs lower the barrier significantly for people who haven't done SPI flash work before. 👍
