Hi BIN! I have some years such interface, but not genuine. And many programs from VCDS with different version. The last version is 25.3.1. For programming I have some instruments from Microchip and cheap TL866 II Plus from China. On the last week I've got firmware from my interface HEX-V2, but I dont have a TRUE version for replace old program. My notebook is COMPAQ nx6110 has Windows 7/32b unlimited on the board. I would like to connect to my VW Tiguan for diagnostic purposes.
What can you advice me?

can you solve vcds hex v2 clone 25.3 liсеnsе revoked problem?

can you solve vcds hex v2 clone 25.3 liсеnsе revoked problem?

The "liсеnsе revoked" issue on clone HEX-V2 interfaces with VCDS 25.3 is a known problem — Ross-Tech has been progressively tightening their blacklist checks in newer VCDS releases. Here's what you need to know and what your options are:

Why It Happens

Starting around VCDS 22.x and getting stricter in later versions, the software checks the interface sеriаl number, hardware ID, and FTDI descriptors against an online and offline blacklist. If your clone's sеriаl or signature is flagged, you get "liсеnsе Revoked" and the software refuses to work.

What You Can Do

1. Use the toolkit from this resource with VCDS 22.3.1 (not 25.3)

The kit posted here is specifically built around VCDS 22.3.1 and firmware 1.96 for HW 0x44 / 0x46. This is the version most likely to work reliably with a reflashed clone. VCDS 25.3 has newer blacklist databases and stricter validation — getting a clone to work with it is significantly harder and often not possible with a simple reflash.

2. Determine your hardware ID first

Before doing anything, you need to identify what you actually have:
  • Connect the interface to your PC
  • Run VAGCOM_HWType.exe from the kit to check if it reports 0x44 or 0x46
  • Note the FTDI chip type (FT232R, FT232RL, etc.)
  • Make a full backup of both AVR flash and EEPROM before writing anything

3. Reflash procedure (summary)

Since you have a TL866 II Plus, you're covered — the kit includes project examples for TL866:
  • Read and save original AVR flash + EEPROM (your backup)
  • Write the matching flash file (Flash1.96HW0x44 or Flash1.96HW0x46)
  • Write the matching EEPROM file
  • Use FTProg with the included template (ftdiftprogRLRQ.xml) to reprogram FTDI descriptors
  • Run VAGCOM_EEWriteLang.exe to load language resources
  • Verify the interface enumerates correctly in Device Manager
  • Install VCDS 22.3.1 (included installer) and test

Regarding Your Setup

  • Windows 7 32-bit on your Compaq nx6110 — VCDS 22.3.1 should still run on Win7 32-bit, but it's not the ideal environment. If you encounter driver or stability issues, consider testing on a Win10 64-bit machine if available.
  • VW Tiguan — VCDS 22.3.1 covers Tiguan (both Mk1 and Mk2) well for basic diagnostics, coding, and fault reading. You won't have the very latest label files from 25.3, but for most diagnostic work it's perfectly adequate.

Bottom Line

Forget about making 25.3 work with a clone — the blacklist is too aggressive. Download this kit, reflash your interface to match HW 0x44 or 0x46 with firmware 1.96, use VCDS 22.3.1, and keep the interface offline (block VCDS from internet access via firewall) to prevent future blacklist updates.

The archive password is binunlock.com

Read the _README.pdf inside the kit carefully before starting — it has the step-by-step with screenshots for TL866 users specifically.

how to reflash

The reflash procedure depends on your exact hardware, but since you mentioned you have a TL866 II Plus, here is the general step-by-step based on what's included in the kit:

Step 0 — Preparation

  • Download the kit and extract it (archive password: binunlock.com)
  • Read _README.pdf inside — it has screenshots and PCB photos
  • Install TL866 II Plus software (Xgpro) and Progisp v1.72 from the kit
  • Have a USBasp programmer ready if you plan to do in-circuit (ISP) programming instead of removing the chip

Step 1 — Identify Your Hardware

  • Connect the HEX-V2 clone to USB
  • Run VAGCOM_HWType.exe from the kit
  • It will report either HW 0x44 or HW 0x46 — note this down
  • If it doesn't detect anything, your FTDI drivers may need installing first (use ftd2xx.dll from the kit or install from FTDI website)

Step 2 — Full Backup (CRITICAL)

Before writing anything, save your original data:

  • Open your HEX-V2 clone enclosure
  • Identify the AVR microcontroller (usually ATmega162 or ATmega168)
  • Connect via TL866 II Plus (socket) or USBasp (ISP header on PCB)

Using TL866 II Plus:
  • Open Xgpro, select correct AVR chip
  • Read the full flash → save as backupflashoriginal.bin
  • Read the EEPROM → save as backupeepromoriginal.bin
  • Note the fuse bits and save them too

Step 3 — Write AVR Flash + EEPROM

Choose the correct file set based on your HW type:

For HW 0x44:
  • Flash: Flash1.96HW0x44.bin (or .hex)
  • EEPROM: eepromavrHW0x44.bin (or .hex)

For HW 0x46:
  • Flash: Flash1.96HW0x46.bin (or .hex)
  • EEPROM: eepromavrHW0x46.bin (or .hex)

Using TL866 II Plus:
  • Load the correct flash file → Program
  • Switch to EEPROM tab → load correct EEPROM file → Program
  • Verify both after writing

Using USBasp (in-circuit):
  • Just run the included batch file: USBASPwrite0x44.cmd or USBASPwrite0x46.cmd
  • It handles flash + EEPROM + fuses automatically via avrdude

Step 4 — Reprogram FTDI Chip

  • Download and install FT_Prog from the FTDI website (free)
  • Connect the HEX-V2 to USB
  • Open FT_Prog → Scan and Parse
  • Go to File → Open Template → load ftdiftprog_RLRQ.xml from the kit
  • Apply the template to your device
  • Click Program
  • This sets the correct VID/PID, sеriаl number format, and USB descriptors

Step 5 — Write Language Resources

  • With the interface still connected via USB
  • Run VAGCOM_EEWriteLang.exe
  • It writes multi-language data into the interface EEPROM over USB
  • Wait for confirmation message

Step 6 — Verify & Test

  • Open Device Manager → check under COM ports or USB controllers that the interface shows correct descriptors
  • Install VCDS-FRM-22031-Installer.exe from the kit
  • Block VCDS from internet via Windows Firewall (important — prevents blacklist update)
  • Launch VCDS → Options → select the correct COM port
  • Click Test — you should see interface info with HW 0x44 or 0x46, firmware 1.96
  • Connect to your Tiguan via OBD-II and test basic scan

Important Notes

  • Do NOT update VCDS beyond 22.3.1 — newer versions will blacklist the clone again
  • Do NOT connect VCDS to internet — add a firewall rule to block it
  • If TL866 doesn't recognize the AVR, you may need to use ISP (USBasp) instead — some clones have the chip soldered and won't fit the TL866 socket without desoldering
  • The kit includes Projects TL866+Progisp\ folder with ready-made project files — check those for exact chip settings and fuse configurations
  • Always verify after writing — a bad flash means a dead interface

If you get stuck at any specific step, post what you see (error messages, screenshots, chip markings on the PCB) and we can help further.

can i get the repair video guide?

There is no video guide included in this kit — it contains a _README.pdf with written step-by-step instructions and screenshots.

That PDF plus the ready-made project files in the Projects TL866+Progisp\ folder should be enough to walk you through the entire process. The steps I described in my previous post follow the same structure as the PDF.

If you get stuck on a specific step, post a photo of your PCB and the error you're seeing — easier to help with concrete details than a general video.

This confirms exactly what we discussed. Your screenshot shows:

  • VCDS 25.3.0 — this version has aggressive blacklist checking
  • sеriаl: hexc715-00c65e-440009-93ad92-0khahh-55de
  • liсеnsе Status: Revoked
  • The sеriаl contains 44 — this means your interface is HW 0x44

What you need to do:

1. Uninstall VCDS 25.3.0 completely
VCDS 25.3 will never work with this clone — the sеriаl is blacklisted and there is no workaround for this version.

2. Download the kit from this resource
Archive password: binunlock.com

3. Reflash your interface using the HW 0x44 file set:
  • Flash: Flash1.96HW0x44.bin
  • EEPROM: eepromavrHW0x44.bin
  • FTDI template: ftdiftprog_RLRQ.xml

This will give your interface a new sеriаl number and clean firmware. Use your TL866 II Plus following the steps from my earlier post.

4. Install VCDS 22.3.1 (included in the kit: VCDS-FRM-22031-Installer.exe)

5. Block VCDS in Windows Firewall — prevent it from downloading updated blacklists.
