Glad you got it sorted.

Let us know how the restore goes or if you run into any issues getting the multiplexer connected once it's up and running. Good luck!

how to call up the icon in ConfigAssist SDconnect (is only Xentry DiagnosisVCI)

This is a common issue on newer images that default to the newer C6 (Xentry Diagnosis VCI) drivers. You need to ensure the SDconnect Toolkit is active.

Here is how to get it back:

1. Check the System Tray: Look in the bottom right corner of your taskbar near the clock. Do you see the small SDconnect Toolkit icon (looks like a miniature C4 multiplexer)?
2. If the icon is missing: You need to start the toolkit manually.
  • Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\SDconnect Toolkit\
  • Find and run: TkTray.exe
3. Restart ConfigAssist: Once the toolkit icon appears in the tray, close and reopen ConfigAssist. The SDconnect option should now be available to select and configure.

Note: Some pre-configured images include specific scripts on the desktop to switch modes. Look for a folder containing batch files like "Switch to C4" or "Register SDconnect". If those exist, run the appropriate one for your hardware.

Are DTS Monaco and Vediamo included in the link, or is it just Xentry?

Yes, DTS Monaco and Vediamo are indeed included in this system image.

As another member mentioned a few messages above: "monaco and vediamo working" (Monaco and Vediamo work). So you should have access to the engineering tools in addition to Xentry/DAS.

As another member mentioned a few messages above: "monaco et vediamo working". So you should have access to the engineering tools in addition to Xentry/DAS.

The download link is in the very first post of this discussion. Click the link titled: «👉 View full details and download — Xentry OpenShell system image for Mercedes diagnostics » . You will be redirected to the resource page where the download button is located.

Regarding the credentials, these preconfigured images generally use the standard default values for Windows login:

  • Username: User (sometimes Xentry )
  • Password: generally left blank or sometimes 12345

Regarding “XENTRY ??????”, if the image is properly preconfigured, Xentry should already be patched and activated. Generally, you do not need to log in to the Xentry application; it should launch directly via Xentry Start or the desktop shortcut. If you are asked for activation keys, the image restoration may have failed or the patch may not have been applied.
So what is the solution?

So what is the solution then?

If you are referring to the problem mentioned above where Xentry does not launch (password prompt or crash) while the engineering tools work, there is no single unique solution, but several possibilities to check.

The fact that Vediamo/Monaco work indicates that basic communication with the interface is good. The problem therefore specifically comes from the Xentry application layer or its activation.

Here are the potential solutions to try, in order:

  1. Check the ACSService service:
Open Windows Services (type services.msc in the Start menu). Look for the service named Daimler ACSService. It must be running and set to Automatic startup. If it is stopped, try starting it manually. Xentry will not launch without it.
  2. Antivirus interference:
This is a very common cause with these images. Check the protection history in Windows Defender (or your third-party antivirus). It is likely that it detected and quarantined the "patch" files (often modified DLLs) required to bypass the Xentry login. If so, you need to restore the files and add an exclusion for the Xentry folder.
  3. Probe firmware (VCI):
This version of Xentry (09.2025) is very recent. If you are using a C4 or C5 multiplexer, its internal firmware must be updated to the latest compatible versions. Firmware that is too old may still work with Vediamo, but will cause Xentry to crash at startup or when attempting to connect to the vehicle.

Hello, I'm trying to start DaimlerACSServide in services.msc but it displays an error message...

Hello,

Error 2 "the system cannot find the file specified" is very clear: the executable file required to start the service has disappeared from your hard drive.

The cause is almost certainly 99%: Your antivirus software (probably Windows Defender) has quarantined the file.

The file ACSService.exe is often modified (patched) in these images to allow operation without an official license, and antivirus software often detects it as a threat (false positive).

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Open Windows Security (the shield in the taskbar).
  2. Go to Virus & threat protection.
  3. Click Protection history.
  4. Look at recently blocked or quarantined items. You should find a file named ACSService.exe (usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\Xentry\bin\).
  5. If you find it, choose the option to Restore the file.

Once restored, it is essential to add an exclusion to prevent this from happening again after the next restart:

  • Still in Windows Security -> Virus & threat protection -> Manage settings.
  • Scroll down to Exclusions and click "Add or remove exclusions".
  • Add the complete folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\

After doing this, go back to services.msc and try starting the DaimlerACSService service again.

Nothing in the Windows Security history

This is problematic, but error 2 doesn't lie: the physical file is no longer on the hard drive where the service expects to find it. It has been deleted.

You need to manually verify that it is absent to be 100% sure.

1. Open File Explorer.
2. Navigate to this exact folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\Xentry\bin\
3. In this folder, look for the file ACSService.exe.

If it isn't there (which is very likely given the error), you need to restore it.

How can you recover it?

  • Option A (The simplest): Check the files you downloaded for this image. Is there a separate folder named "Patch", "Fix", "Medicine", or something similar? If so, it probably contains a copy of ACSService.exe. Copy it and paste it into the \bin\ folder mentioned above.
  • Option B: If your extraction software (WinRAR, 7-Zip) allows it, open the original system image archive without fully extracting it, browse the folder structure to find this file, and extract only this file to the correct folder on your C drive.
  • Option C (Last resort): If you cannot recover the file on its own, you will need to restore the system image again. Important: Before restoring it again, completely disable Windows Defender or any other antivirus to prevent it from deleting the file again during the process.

I tried to fix this probl...

Hello. The appearance of the login screen (request for User ID/Password) means that the Xentry authentication system is not being bypassed correctly. This is often the logical continuation of the missing file problems you had previously.

Here are the points to check to get past this screen:

1. Check the status of the ACSService service (Crucial)
Go back to services.msc. Make absolutely sure that the DaimlerACSService service is now in the "Running" state (Running).
* If it is not started, Xentry will always display this login screen, regardless of the tools you use.
* If you still cannot start it (error 2 or otherwise), the ACSService.exe file is still missing or corrupted (see your previous issue).

2. Correct use of the "offlineaccount tool"
If the service is running, the problem is with the activation tool.
* Did you run this tool by right-clicking -> "Run as administrator"? This is essential so that it can modify the registry or protected files.
* Did the tool confirm that the operation was successful?

3. The "DLL" method (Common alternative)
On many images, activation is not done via an external tool, but by replacing specific files.
* Look on the image desktop or in your downloaded files for a folder named "Patch", "Fix", "Medicine" or "Activation".
* If you find files there (often .dll such as Xentry.Services.User.dll or others), you generally need to copy and paste them to replace the originals in this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\Xentry\bin\

Hello where i can find acroins image with PassThru version ?

This thread is specifically for the Xentry OpenShell (XDOS) version, which is designed for Mercedes SDconnect C4/C5/C6 multiplexers.

If you are using a J2534 device (like Tactrix OpenPort, Scanmatik, etc.), you need the Xentry PassThru (XPT) version.

While it is sometimes possible to force OpenShell to work with PassThru using wrappers, it is often unstable. I recommend you search the forum specifically for "Xentry PassThru Acronis" or "XPT Image". There are separate threads dedicated to those builds which will work much better for your hardware.
