Since you likely lost your original data, you just need to find a standard EEPROM dump for this specific ECU number.

Search the forum for a 0261207968 EEPROM file. Once you have that file, you (or someone here) can virginize it. Writing that new virgin file will restore the ECU and allow it to pair with your Yellow Box.

You haven't broken the ECU, you just need the right software to reload it.

If you saw an error message or nothing happened, your ECU is probably intact.
If you saw a progress bar go all the way to the end (100%), then the software wrote something.

If you had not selected any file in the "File" box before clicking, the software normally could not have written anything.

What I recommend you do now:
Try to perform a proper Read this time.

If the read works, open the resulting file in a hex editor (or check its size).
If it contains data (and not just

```
or
Code:
```
00 00 00
```
), save it carefully. It may still be your original file.
If the read fails or if the file is empty, then the EEPROM has been erased.

In the worst case (erased EEPROM), it is not a problem. Since we have your HW number (0261207968), we can use a standard file from another Alfa GTV 3.2 and make it virgin.

That is excellent news. If the log confirms Read OK, then you have successfully extracted the data and your ECU is safe.

Please make sure to save that file immediately in a secure location. This is your original backup.

Now you can proceed to modify this file (virginize it) and then write it back to the ECU.

Please upload the file you just read here. You will likely need to compress it into a .zip or .rar archive first, as the forum usually does not accept raw binary files.

Once attached, we can apply the virgin patch for you.
