BMW FRM OBD Reset Tool — Short Circuit Counter Repair

OBD recovery for FRM70 FRM87 and LM60 modules with EDIABAS connection

What is it
BMW FRM OBD Reset Tool is a small Windows utility that restores lighting outputs by resetting the short circuit counter in BMW Footwell and Light Modules. It works over OBD using the standard EDIABAS connection layer so you can recover FRM and LM functions after a protection shutdown without recoding the car.

Thanks for sharing this resource! This is definitely a much-needed tool given how sensitive the FRM modules are to voltage fluctuations and bulb issues on the E9x and E8x platforms.

A quick question regarding the functionality: does this tool essentially act as a frontend wrapper for the standard EDIABAS jobs? Usually, doing this manually involves opening Tool32, loading frm_87.prg or frm_70.prg, and running specific jobs like:

Code:
_reset_kurzschluss_sperre

Or for specific lamp IDs:

Code:
steuern_reset_kurzschluss_abschaltung

If this tool automates the lookup of the lamp IDs (so we don't have to cross-reference the hex codes for specific lights like "Low Beam Left" vs "Turn Signal Right"), that is a massive time saver.

Does it require a specific Ediabas version (7.3.0 vs older), and is it confirmed working with standard K+DCAN cables?
