Dosen't open

Can you clarify what exactly doesn't open?

  • The download link (404 error on the website)?
  • The archive itself (extraction error or password issue)?
  • The CarTool.exe application (error message, crash, blank screen)?

If it's the application not launching, try these steps:

  1. Disable your antivirus temporarily — it often quarantines CarTool.dll or data.dat silently.
  2. Extract the archive directly to C:\CarTool (root of system drive, no spaces or special characters in path).
  3. Right-click CarTool.exe → Run as Administrator.
  4. If on Windows 10/11, try setting compatibility mode to Windows 7.

If you get a specific error message or popup, post a screenshot and I can help further.

says access violation

I saw the screenshot — it's a classic EAccessViolation error. This is a common issue in older versions of CarTool.

Try the following:

  1. Extract the archive directly to the C:\CarTool directory (not to the desktop or folders with long paths).
  2. data.dat Make sure the file is present in the folder and isn't corrupted — your antivirus may have silently deleted it.
  3. CarTool.exeRight-click it → PropertiesCompatibility tab → Windows XP (Service Pack 3) select compatibility mode.
  4. Run as administrator check the box.
  5. Temporarily disable the antivirus completely and try again.

This error is usually data.dat caused by the file eksik/bozuk being unavailable or by Windows' DEP (Data Execution Prevention) protection.

If it still does not work:

  • Windows Settings → System → About → Advanced system settings → Performance → SettingsData Execution Prevention (DEP) in the tab CarTool.exeAdd as an exception.

Try it and report the result.

Most likely, the data.dat file is corrupted or missing. Check the following:

  • Check your antivirus quarantine/history — it may have deleted the data.dat or CarTool.dll file.
  • Download the archive again and disable all protection, including Windows Defender, before extracting it (Real-time protection + Cloud-delivered protection).
  • After extracting it, check the file sizes in the folder — data.dat should be at least a few MB. If it is 0 KB or very small, it is missing.

If all of these are fine and you are still getting the same error:

  • Start Windows in Safe Mod (Safe Mode) and try running CarTool.exe there.
  • Try a different version of Windows (Windows 7 32-bit in a virtual machine works ideally for this software).

This tool is an old application from 2016, written with Delphi/Pascal — on Windows 10/11 64-bit, it can sometimes experience DEP or memory access issues. The most reliable solution is to install a Windows 7 32-bit virtual machine (VirtualBox/VMware) and run it there.

what?

Looks like you're getting a 403 Unauthorized error when trying to download the resource. This means you need to be signed in to access the download.

If you're already logged in and still getting 403, try clearing your browser cache/cookies and logging in again. Some browsers also block downloads — try a different browser if the issue persists.
