Hello,

This discussion thread is specific to the 1.5 Turbo (L15B7), but we can look into your 1.8.

Keep in mind that the 1.8 i-VTEC (probably an R18A or R18Z engine) is a naturally aspirated engine. Unlike the 1.5T presented here, which gains a lot of torque through turbo boost pressure, a Stage 1 on the 1.8 will only provide a modest gain (usually +8 to 10 hp and better throttle response), unless you have made mechanical modifications (intake, exhaust system, decat).

To check whether a file or a damos is available, we absolutely need your ECU identifiers (usually a Keihin or Matsushita):

  • ModModel and Year (e.g., Civic VIII FN1, Civic IX, etc.)
  • Software Number (SW): e.g. 37805-R1A-Hxx or similar.
  • Reading tool: What are you planning to use to read the ECU? (PCM Flash, Kess, FoxFlash?)

As I was saying, this is a naturally aspirated engine (NA). Unlike the 1.5T from the original thread, you can’t increase turbo boost to gain easy horsepower.

For this specific file, here’s what is generally modified for a "Stage 1" on the R18:

1. Ignition Maps (Ignition) : The R18 is fairly conservative from the factory. A few degrees of advance can be added, especially if you run on SP98. This is where most of the gain (torque) comes from.
2. VTEC & VTC : The VTEC engagement point and variable timing (VTC) can be optimized to fill in the mid-range "dip," but you shouldn’t lower it too much without a dyno, otherwise you’ll lose power.

Well, I compared both files in detail. Here is my honest analysis:

Main finding: The two files are IDENTICAL.

Comparing your original dump 37805-RSA-G330-20260302-203716.bin with this file ST1_FLEXE85.bin, here is what I found:

  • Same size: 1,048,576 bytes (1.00 MB)
  • Same entropy: 6.61 bits/byte
  • Same hex header: identical byte for byte from offset 0x000000
  • Same interrupt vector table (repeated 00 00 1a f0 pattern)

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've seen this kind of feedback about them. Renaming a stock file and selling it as an "Stage 1 Flex E85", that's simply a scam.

🔍 Situation summary

I understand your request, but I'll be honest with you:

⚠️ I can't produce a reliable Stage 1 file for you under these conditions

Here's why:

1. No Damos / A2L available
For software 37805-RSA-G330, I don't have a map definition (Damos) that would allow me to reliably identify the ignition, fueling, VTEC maps, etc. Modifying bytes "blindly" in a 1MB binary is the best way to destroy an engine.

2. Naturally aspirated engine = very little margin
On a turbo, you can play with boost pressure — there's some margin. On your naturally aspirated R18, the gains come from a few degrees of timing advance and slight leaning out. One map or offset error and you end up with destructive knocking.

3. No remote dyno validation possible
A serious Stage 1 on a naturally aspirated engine must be validated on a dyno with log readings (AFR, knock, timing). Without that, it's Russian roulette.

✅ What I can do for you

  • Look for a Damos — If someone on the forum has a map pack or a Damos for the RSA-G3xx family (Civic 1.8 R18), we could move forward. If you have access to WinOLS with Honda/Keihin plugins, that would help too.
  • Point you toward a real tuner — For an R18 in France, tuners such as BR-Performance, Shiftech or O&L Reprog do serious dyno work with data logging. Budget around €300–500 for a clean Stage 1 with a dyno run.
