Sometimes a useful tool exists, but it is inconvenient to use: you need to install Python, open the command prompt, enter commands, and figure out what goes where. That was exactly the situation with IC204. So I decided to make everything as simple as possible: select the block version, select the required level, paste the Seed, press one button — and get the calculated Key.
This program performs exactly this calculation.
The user does not need to enter any commands or use Python.
The process is simple: select the software version → select the Security Level → paste the Seed → press GENERATE KEY → get the Key.
The author of the original project reconstructed the Seed-Key calculation principle for Mercedes IC204 and published it as Python code.
In the original version, the program is launched through Python and the command prompt.
On my side, I made what I personally found missing there:
It performs only one task: receives the Seed → calculates the corresponding Key.
Therefore, the Seed must first be obtained using your own diagnostic equipment or software. Naturally, the tool should only be used when working on your own vehicle or with the owner's permission.
I am continuing to develop it further.
The condition is simple:
like the thread and send me a private message. I will send the archive password by PM.
And a little more about what is coming...
At the same time, I am currently finishing another project of my own.
For now, I deliberately do not want to show in detail what it can do — first I want to test it properly in real-world use.
But the direction is completely different.
If everything works as intended, the program should significantly simplify the work of practically everyone involved in the software optimization of vehicles.
Especially the tasks that currently have to be done manually over and over again.
After the first proper tests, I will show more and will most likely publish it here as well.
What is this program?#
To put it in very simple terms: when working with the Mercedes IC204 instrument cluster, some operations require special access. The block provides the user with a Seed value, and in response, the correct Key must be obtained.This program performs exactly this calculation.
The user does not need to enter any commands or use Python.
The process is simple: select the software version → select the Security Level → paste the Seed → press GENERATE KEY → get the Key.
What is supported#
The original project currently lists support for 31 IC204 software versions from several families:- 197902
- 204442
- 204902
- 212442
- 212902
- 218902
What I did#
Let me clarify separately right away: I am not the author of the algorithm itself and do not claim authorship. The original project was published by the user Mattwmaster58 on GitHub 07.02.2026: https://github.com/Mattwmaster58/ic204The author of the original project reconstructed the Seed-Key calculation principle for Mercedes IC204 and published it as Python code.
In the original version, the program is launched through Python and the command prompt.
On my side, I made what I personally found missing there:
- created a simple graphical window;
- added software version selection from a list;
- added Security Level selection;
- created a separate field for the Seed;
- added a regular Paste;
- button and a Copy button for the generated Key;
- added clear result messages;
- and packaged everything as a ready-to-use EXE for Windows.
Important#
This is not a program for automatically coding a vehicle, and it does not connect to anything on its own. It does not read the vehicle, connect to the CAN bus, or write anything to the block.It performs only one task: receives the Seed → calculates the corresponding Key.
Therefore, the Seed must first be obtained using your own diagnostic equipment or software. Naturally, the tool should only be used when working on your own vehicle or with the owner's permission.
Another program of mine#
For anyone interested, here on the forum I have already published my completely own project: AutoTech Manager 2.10.37 — customers, vehicles, services, PDFs, and work historyI am continuing to develop it further.
Archive password#
