This is a known issue with VCDS HEX-V2 interfaces — when the dongle connects to the internet (especially via Wi-Fi) while VCDS is running, Ross-Tech can flag and revoke the liсеnsе if it's detected as a clone or unauthorized copy.

What "Revoked" means:
Ross-Tech pushed a revocation to your interface, which essentially blacklists the sеriаl number. This is stored in the microcontroller on the dongle itself.

Regarding reflashing the ATmega:

There are a few things to consider:

  • HEX-V2 interfaces typically use an ATmega32U2 (or similar) for USB communication and may have additional MCUs handling the CAN/K-Line protocols.
  • Reflashing the ATmega alone may not be enough — the revocation can also be tied to the sеriаl number and liсеnsе data stored in a separate EEPROM or flash region.
  • You would need the correct firmware dump from a working, non-revoked unit with a valid sеriаl to restore functionality.
  • Some clones use different chip configurations, so you'd need to confirm exactly what hardware revision you have.

What you should provide if you want help:

  • Open the dongle and post clear photos of the PCB (both sides) so the exact chips can be identified.
  • Confirm the MCU type — is it actually ATmega32U2, or something else?
  • Note any other ICs on the board (EEPROM, CAN transceivers, etc.)
  • What VCDS version were you running when it got revoked?
  • Is the dongle still recognized via USB at all, or is it completely dead?

Important warning: If this is a clone interface, be aware that reflashing it may work temporarily, but connecting to the internet again will likely result in another revocation. The safest approach is to never allow VCDS to access the internet (block it in your firewall or use it on an offline machine).

Post the board photos and details and someone here may be able to point you in the right direction.
