cnutll first guide

Alright, let's forget all the complicated explanations. Here is the first and most important instruction simplified.

This is the only way it works.

FGTech Galletto Boot Mode - Basic Guide

1. Preparation
  • Take a thin electrical wire.
  • Wrap one end of the wire around the metal shell of the USB connector (this is GROUND).
  • The other end is your "pen".

2. Finding the Correct Pin (Most Important Step)
Look at the circuit board so that the orange crystal is in the upper-left corner (as in your picture).
Count the silver legs starting from the upper corner downward:

Code:
Jalka 1 (Kulma)
Jalka 2
Jalka 3
Jalka 4
Jalka 5
Jalka 6 <-- TÄMÄ NAKSUU (RESET). ÄLÄ KOSKE TÄHÄN.
Jalka 7 <-- Tyhjä väli
Jalka 8 <-- TÄMÄ ON KOHDE (BOOT). TÄHÄN SINUN PITÄÄ OSUA.

3. Procedure
Do this exactly in this order:

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. Place the end of the wire precisely on the 8th leg (counted from the corner).
3. Hold the wire in place. Do not let it touch the 6th leg.
4. Connect the USB cable to the computer.
5. Wait 3 seconds.
6. Remove the wire from the leg.

4. Test (Did It Work?)

  • Did you hear a "CLICK"? -> Failed. You accidentally touched the 6th leg (Reset). Try again, but move the wire just slightly downward (toward the 8th leg).
  • Was it QUIET? -> SUCCESS! You are now in Boot mode.

5. Programming
Once you have the "Quiet" result:
1. Open Flash Magic.
2. Select "LPC2119".
3. Press "Start".

If it clicks, you are too high up. Move the wire about 1 millimeter downward.

Explain where I connected that TX and RX.

This is a very useful picture! It shows the entire connection.

What this picture shows:

This is the wiring diagram for the LPC2119 chip in the FGTech Galletto device.

On the left: the LPC2119 chip (ARM) and its pins.
On the right: the OBD connector (the large gray connector at the edge of the circuit board).

Important pins:

  • TX - P0.0 (Pin 19) = The chip sends data to the computer
  • RX - P0.1 (Pin 21) = The chip receives data from the computer
  • ENT - P0.14 (Pin 41) = THIS IS THE BOOT MODE PIN!
  • RESET (Pin 57) = Reset (this clicks!)

WAIT - Important note!

Look at the picture again:

RESET = Pin 57
ENT (Boot Mode) = P0.14 = Pin 41

Pin 41 is on the OTHER SIDE of the chip from Reset!

It is NOT 2 pins below Reset. It is at the BOTTOM of the chip (bottom-row pins).

Where P0.14 (Boot Mode) is:

Look at your circuit board:
  • Reset and the crystal are on the LEFT side of the chip
  • P0.14 (Boot Mode) is at the BOTTOM of the chip (bottom-row pins)
  • Pin 41 = Bottom-row pins, counted from right to left

This is why all the pins "click"! You have been trying to find the Boot pin on the wrong side of the chip! It is not on the left side near the crystal. It is at the BOTTOM of the chip.

Tell me how the circuit board is positioned in front of you (USB at the top/bottom?) and I will tell you exactly where you need to touch.
