ByteShooter is a legacy master ECU-programming suite for technicians who already have compatible ByteShooter hardware. The software organizes supported operations by vehicle, engine and ECU and separates passenger-car and truck loaders, while the actual read, write and checksum functions depend on the connected interface and licensed hardware modules.
Supported vehicles, ECUs and files#
The supplied interface shows manufacturer and vehicle selection for car and commercial-vehicle work, including visible entries for Suzuki, Toyota, Vauxhall, Volvo and Volkswagen. Controller support is module-dependent: manufacturer documentation describes EDC16 checksum correction and optional families such as MED17/EDC17 TriCore and VAG DSG DQ250. Those examples explain the ecosystem; they do not prove that every optional module is activated by this package.- Passenger-car and truck workflows through the separate LDRcars and LDRtrucks loaders.
- Master mode, where an open binary can be saved for calibration work, plus hardware-dependent slave and semimaster workflows.
- Vehicle, engine and ECU choices exposed by the installed database and the licenses present in the connected ByteShooter interface.
Functions#
- Identify a supported vehicle and ECU path, then expose the appropriate read or write operation.
- Read ECU content for backup or calibration and write a prepared file through supported hardware.
- Apply checksum handling only where the selected licensed module explicitly provides it.
- Use the included PDF as the starting point for cable, ignition and programming procedures.
System and hardware requirements#
- A Windows workshop computer and genuine compatible ByteShooter programming hardware.
- Correct USB driver and hardware firmware; this archive does not include a USB driver installer.
- The required ECU/module license for the selected controller family.
- Stable vehicle voltage, correct cable or bench pinout and a recoverable original read.
Recommended workflow#
- Identify the ECU from its label and diagnostics before selecting a vehicle entry.
- Confirm the hardware connection and licensed module with a read-only identification operation.
- Create and verify a full backup before editing or writing any calibration.
- Validate file size and checksum support, maintain power, and follow the controller-specific instructions during programming.
