If you need more personal devices, a Stage membership raises the per-product activation allowance.

tried on my vm i use for hptuners and it wont open so now have to do it on my regular laptop os.

Your activation isn't the problem here — the screenshot itself says "Saved activation is valid; no new request is needed." The failure is the executable refusing to launch on that VM, which is a separate thing entirely.

What that error usually means

"Not a valid application for this OS platform" is a Windows loader message, not a licensing message. In practice it comes from one of these:

  • Architecture mismatch — a 64-bit build on 32-bit Windows, or the reverse. Tuning VMs are frequently 32-bit installs (old Win 7 images especially), and this workspace needs a 64-bit OS.
  • Incomplete or blocked download — a truncated archive, or SmartScreen/AV quarantining part of the extracted folder. Unblock the archive before extracting, then re-extract to a clean path (no network share, no OneDrive-synced folder).
  • Missing runtime — the .NET desktop runtime the build targets isn't installed in the VM. A bare HPTuners VM often has only what VCM Suite needed.
  • Virtualised GPU — some VMs without proper GPU passthrough fail to initialise the UI and drop out before the window appears.

First thing to check on the VM: whether it's 64-bit (systeminfo will show it) and which OS build it is, plus the exact filename you ran. That tells you which of the above you're looking at.

The part that actually blocks you

Moving to your regular laptop is not a free switch. The VM's hardware ID is already your one registered device (allowance 1, slots used 1), so a new HWID from the laptop is a second activation and will be rejected the same way your previous request was — no code change on your end will change that.

Two routes:

  • Get the editor running on the VM and keep using the existing registration — nothing to reissue, the saved activation stays valid.
  • Or move licensing to the laptop permanently, which means the VM HWID has to be released first. That's an account-level change I can't make from a forum reply — take it to Bin or the admin/account workflow and request the release, then submit the laptop's activation request.

If you decide to chase the VM route, post the OS version and architecture plus the filename you tried and I can narrow it down from there.
