Hi, is it posoble to reset with VEDIAMO/MONACO?W212 ,642 engine.

The DSM (Driver Signal Module / gear selector) redundancy counter on the 642-equipped W212 is normally an internal ISM/steering column module value, and in most cases it is not a freely resettable counter through standard Vediamo/DTS Monaco coding. It's stored protected, and Xentry itself often only clears it after the underlying fault condition is gone, not on demand.

Before anyone can tell you if it's doable on your car, a few things need clarifying:

  • Which module exactly is throwing the redundancy count — is it the gear selector (DSM/ISM), or are you actually looking at something like an ESP/steering angle redundancy counter? The exact control unit and the full DTC would help.
  • What HW/SW version is that control unit reporting?
  • What are you trying to achieve — swapping in a used module, or clearing a stored count that won't go away?

If you can post the exact DTC and the ECU identification (HW/SW), I can tell you whether it's a routine you can trigger in Vediamo or whether it needs the fault cause fixed first. Which Vediamo/Monaco version are you running?

If the redundancy counter has genuinely reached its limit and the selector has locked out, that's the internal life/redundancy counter in the ISM (gear selector module) itself — and that one is the hard case. It's stored in protected memory, so it won't come back with a normal Vediamo/Monaco coding write or an Xentry clear. Once it's counted out, MB's official path is module replacement.

That said, a couple of things decide whether it's recoverable on the bench:

  • Some ISM selectors can be revived by editing the EEPROM directly (resetting the counter byte) — but that requires reading the module's EEPROM off the board, not doing it over diagnostics.
  • Others are checksum/SCN protected and will just re-lock or throw a new fault after coding.

So to point you right, I need the exact identification of that selector module:

  • The full part number and HW/SW version it reports
  • The exact DTC(s) it's storing now
  • Whether you want to keep this original module (EEPROM route) or you have a used/replacement one to code in

If it's an EEPROM counter reset you're after, that's a solder/read-write job on the module, not a Vediamo routine. Post the module part number and I'll tell you which camp it falls in.
