Hi Bin. Unfortunately, after a few seconds of starting Istagui, this window appears indicating a bug. I've reinstalled several times, following your instructions exactly, but every time Istagui stops starting. Why do you think this happens? Obviously, I'm asking for help, not just from you, but from everyone. Thanks.
installed on another PC same result

I fixed the problem you need to add ISPIDATA C:\ProgramData to your environment variables.
Great. I currently have 4.57.12 installed. If it gives me problems, I'll try reinstalling 4.57.21 using your solution. Thanks anyway.

If the text file is missing, here is the standard procedure for most ISTA+ Standalone packages:

  1. Unblock the Archive: Before extracting, right-click the downloaded .7z or .rar file, go to Properties, check the Unblock box at the bottom right, and click Apply.
  2. Extraction: Extract the contents to the root of your drive (e.g., C:\ISTA). Avoid long folder paths or spaces in the name.
  3. Prerequisites: Navigate to the Tools or Prereqs folder (if present) and install the Visual C++ Redistributables (AIO) and .NET Framework. This is critical; otherwise, it won't launch.
  4. Registry Fix: Find the file named ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64.reg (or similar) in the main folder. Double-click it to merge it into your registry. This tells Windows where the installation is located.
  5. Launch: Go to C:\ISTA\TesterGUI\bin\Release (path may vary slightly depending on the rера**), find ISTAGUI.exe, right-click it, and select Run as Administrator.

If you are using an ENET cable, make sure your Ediabas settings (usually in C:\Ediabas\Bin\ediabas.ini) are set to Interface = ENET.

BMW ISTA+ Standalone 4.57.21
Diagnostics + Programming workflow-ready setup • EN/DE

A practical ISTA+ Standalone 4.57.21 package prepared for everyday workshop-style use.
If you’re building a stable BMW diagnostic laptop or want a clean baseline for troubleshooting, this release keeps things simple: ISTA archive + config + install notes, plus a pointer for matching programming data.

Package contents
  • ISTA.rar — main ISTA+ package archive
  • ISTA+Standalone-4.57.21 config — configuration folder for the standalone setup
  • instal.txt — install notes / quick instructions
  • 4.57.21_PSdZData.7z.torr*** — reference pointer for matching PSdZData (programming data)
Languages
  • German
  • English

Works with
  • ✅ D-CAN
  • ✅ ENET
  • ✅ ICOM

Why 4.57.21?
Because it’s a solid middle-ground build that’s popular for mixed fleets:
  • Good balance of features vs. “random new build surprises”
  • Comfortable for both diagnostics and typical programming workflows (with matching data)
  • A reliable reference version when comparing behavior across setups

Heads-up before you start
  • Use a machine with enough disk space (programming data is large).
  • Run as Admin where required and keep the install path simple.
  • Always pair ISTA+ with the matching PSdZData version for best compatibility.

Hi Bin. Do you know if it's possible to install the Italian language pack in ISTA+ Standalone 4.57.21? I'm asking because I tried adding the two files streamdataprimitive_IT and xmlvalueprimitive_IT to the sqlitedbs folder, but then the launch of ISTA gets stuck at a certain point and won't run any further. I tried with IT 4.37.20, which with a version of the same files modified with SQLiteDatabaseBrowser renaming them IT_4.57.21, but ISTA crashes after a few minutes from startup.

Hi Bin. Do you know if it's possible to install the Italian language pack in ISTA+ Standalone 4.57.2...

That approach will not work. You cannot mix language database versions with a different program executable version.

ISTA is very strict about version matching. The TesterGUI.exe for 4.57.21 expects databases specifically structured and tagged for 4.57.21. Using 4.37.20 databases—even if you try to edit internal tags with DB Browser—will cause the crashes and hangs you are experiencing because the internal schema or data structure often changes between versions.

To get Italian working on 4.57.21, you must find the native Italian SQLite files specifically for version 4.57.21.

You need to search for a download that contains the "SQLiteDBs" pack for 4.57.21 that includes these files:
  • streamdataprimitive_IT.sqlite
  • xmlvalueprimitive_IT.sqlite
Once you obtain the correct files for your specific version, just drop them into your \ISTA\SQLiteDBs\ folder. Then, launch ISTA, go to configuration, and select Italian.

Ok, and thanks for the reply. I figured I needed to include the original it 4.57.21 package, and before doing the steps described above with DB Browser, I tried to find the Italian language pack, but it seems impossible to find.

Ok, and thanks for the reply. I figured I needed to include the original it 4.57.21 package, and bef...

That is common with very recent versions like 4.57.21. The standalone repackers usually only include English and German initially to keep the download size manageable. The other language packs often lag behind a bit in public circulation.

You rarely find just the individual language files isolated for download. You usually have to find a tоrre** or mega link for the full "SQLiteDBs" package for that specific version, which includes *all* languages. These can be very large downloads.

Try searching on diagnostic forums or trackers using terms like "ISTA 4.57.21 SQLiteDBs Multilanguage" or "ISTA PsdzData full" (sometimes they are bundled).

If you absolutely need Italian right now for diagnostics, your best bet might be to use a slightly older, more established version (like 4.47.x or 4.39.20) where the full language packs are easily found, until the 4.57.x files become more common.

Ok thanks.

You're welcome.

Just keep an eye on the usual forums over the next few weeks. Those full multilanguage SQLite packs usually eventually leak out a little while after the main English standalone version gets established. Good luck.

Yes, of course. I don't have any problems with Ista in English, although for some operations, as everyone knows, it's best not to have any doubts about the correct translation of certain steps. In any case, I can safely wait for the Italian pack.

That makes perfect sense. For critical operations, complex test plans (ABLs), or programming, you definitely want to be 100% sure of the instructions without any translation ambiguity.

One final tip regarding languages in ISTA: Even after you eventually get the Italian pack installed, if you ever encounter a strange error or a test plan that seems stuck or behaves oddly, try temporarily switching back to UK English in the configuration settings.

Sometimes the non-English databases contain translation errors or formatting issues that can actually break certain procedures. Plus, nearly all online support resources and error code discussions reference the English terminology anyway.

Good evening everyone, my ista+ 4.57.21 does not contain the ispidata file. Where can I find or get ...

Good evening Maik.

In modern standalone installations of ISTA+ (like version 4.57.21), there isn't typically a single distinct file named ispidata that users need to manage or acquire separately.

The core operational data is located in two main areas within your ISTA installation directory:

  • SQLiteDBs folder: Contains the diagnostic data, languages, text, and graphics (files like streamdataprimitive_EN.sqlite, xmlvalueprimitive_EN.sqlite, and DiagDocDb.sqlite).
  • PSdZ folder: Contains the programming data files (needed if you plan to flash ECUs).

Why do you believe you are missing an "ispidata file"?

Are you getting a specific error message when launching ISTA or trying to connect to a car? If you post the exact error, we can likely point you to the actual missing component or configuration setting.
