BMW Diesel AGR-Rate is a focused Windows service utility for reading and programming a supported exhaust-gas-recirculation adaptation value through an existing BMW EDIABAS diagnostic environment. It does not flash the engine ECU; it requests an adaptation change through the selected diagnostic interface and ECU description file.
Supported vehicles, ECUs and files#
Compatibility depends on the diesel DDE, the available EDIABAS SGBD/PRG data and the interface mode. The application exposes ENET, ICOM for F-series and newer vehicles, general ICOM and STD:OBD choices. Its own guidance notes that older diesel controllers such as some M57 applications can have a different maximum accepted value, so no one adaptation number is universal.- BMW diesel DDE systems for which the utility can load the matching ECU data and read the AGR adaptation.
- STD:OBD/K-line or DCAN, ICOM and ENET paths when correctly configured in EDIABAS.
- Older and newer BMW chassis only where the selected DDE job and adaptation are actually supported.
Functions#
- Connect through EDIABAS and read the currently stored AGR/EGR adaptation value.
- Accept a requested change and report whether the DDE accepts or rejects it.
- Select interface type, IP/COM settings and an ECU data path when automatic discovery is unavailable.
- Keep the original and requested values visible in one small service workflow.
System and hardware requirements#
- Windows with a correctly installed and tested EDIABAS environment.
- Matching ECU PRG/SGBD data files; they are not bundled with this one-application package.
- A compatible K+DCAN/STD:OBD, ICOM or ENET interface as appropriate for the chassis.
- Stable battery voltage and a diagnostic scan capable of checking the result.
Recommended workflow#
- Identify the chassis, engine and DDE and verify normal EDIABAS communication first.
- Read and record the original value before attempting a change.
- Use a conservative supported value; if rejected, do not repeatedly force programming or assume a higher range.
- Cycle the ignition only as instructed, reread the value and check DDE faults and measured EGR behavior.
