Since you are asking about a BMW (specifically a 2022 X7 G07) in a Mercedes thread, note that the Mercedes tools (WIS/DTS) discussed here will not work for that car.

For BMW, the software you need is ISTA+ (also known as Rheingold).

  • ISTA+ contains all the wiring diagrams (SSP), repair instructions, and diagnostics.
  • For a 2022 Mild Hybrid, you need a very recent version of ISTA+ (version 4.35.xx or newer) to have the correct data for that specific chassis.

If you do not want to use ISTA (which is heavy and complex), you are going to have a hard time finding accurate wiring diagrams for a 2022 model for free. Simple mobile apps (like Carmin) usually stop covering models around 2016-2018.

For a 2022 X7, your only real alternatives to ISTA are paid online services:

  • BMW TIS / AIR (Official): You can buy a 1-day or 1-hour pass on the official BMW AOS portal (https://aos.bmwgroup.com). This runs in your browser (no installation needed) and gives you the exact same wiring diagrams as the dealer.
  • Alldata DIY / Mitchell1: These are multi-brand databases. They are paid subscriptions but are much easier to navigate than dealer software. They run in a browser.

There is no "downloadable app" for Android/iOS that will have the Mild Hybrid wiring schematics for a G07 X7. That data is too new and proprietary.

Yes, DTS Monaco is the correct tool for this, but on an EQE (V295 chassis), it is not a simple "plug and play" task.

If the car has stopped charging (usually due to a crash signal or critical fault), the High Voltage system is likely locked in the BMS (Battery Management System) or the OBC (On-Board Charger).

To fix this with DTS Monaco, you face two main hurdles:

  • ZenZefi Certificates: The EQE is a Gen20x vehicle. The ECUs are protected by a Diagnostic Firewall. You cannot simply send "Unlock" commands without valid ZenZefi certificates installed on your laptop. Without them, the ECU will reject the request (Access Denied).
  • SMR-D Files: You need the latest project files for the V295 to communicate with the newer ECUs.

If you have the certificates and the project files, the procedure usually involves connecting to the BMS, unlocking the security access (Seed/Key), and running a routine like HV_Crash_Reset or Enable_Charging.

Why did it stop charging? If it was an accident/crash, be very careful. Resetting the software lock without verifying the physical integrity of the HV lines and pyrofuse is dangerous.

That is a good start. If you have the Diagnostic certificate installed in ZenZefi, you should theoretically be able to communicate with the car.

However, for the EQE (Gen20x), simply having *a* diagnostic certificate is not always enough. The certificate must specifically have the rights/roles to perform "Write" operations and "Routine Control" on the High Voltage components. Many standard certificates only allow "Read" access.

Here is how to test if your certificate is sufficient in DTS Monaco:

  1. Open DTS Monaco and load the project for the EQE (V295).
  2. Connect to the BMS (Battery Management System) or BMS_Gen5 (depending on the specific variant).
  3. Go to the Diagnostic Services tab.
  4. Look for a service named

"Regular Xentry" is much easier to use than DTS Monaco, but on an EQE (Gen20x), it has a major limitation: it usually requires an Online Dealer Login to perform HV unlocks.

If your ZenZefi certificates are installed correctly on the system level, Xentry might use them, but often Xentry forces a check against the Daimler server, which will fail if you are offline.

Here is how to try it in Xentry:

  • Go to Control Units -> Drive.
  • Select N82/2 - Battery Management System (BMS).
  • Go to the Actuations tab (sometimes found under Special Procedures or Teach-in processes).
  • Look for a line that says "Activation of high-voltage on-board electrical system" or "Reset crash data".
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.

If Xentry asks for a username/password or says "Online connection required," you cannot use Xentry. You will have to go back to DTS Monaco.

In DTS Monaco, the "hard" part is just finding the button. It is not magic.
  • Open the workspace.
  • Double-click the BMS ECU to open it.

No, they are completely different tools, even though they are often downloaded and installed together.

  • Xentry is the Dealer software. It is designed for mechanics. It is guided, has pictures, and tells you step-by-step what to do. It is "safe" and user-friendly.
  • DTS Monaco is the Engineering software. It is designed for the engineers who build the car's software. It has no pictures, no guides, and it gives you raw access to the car's brain.

Why this matters for your EQE:
  • If you use Xentry to try to unlock the battery, it will likely stop you and ask for an Online Dealer Login. Since you don't have one, you will get stuck.
  • If you use DTS Monaco, you can bypass the online login requirement *if* you have the correct ZenZefi certificates installed. It allows you to send the "Unlock" command directly to the ECU without asking the Mercedes server for permission.

If you are having a hard time installing them, it is usually because setting up the interface (VCI) is tricky. Are you trying to install the Passthru version (for cables like Openport/Scanmatik) or the OpenShell version (for C4/C5/C6 multiplexers)?

However, you must set it up correctly:

For clearing standard fault codes, Xentry is the easiest method, but DTS Monaco is faster if you just want to wipe everything.

1. Clearing Codes (DTCs)

In Xentry:
  • Run a "Quick Test" (this scans all modules).
  • Once finished, click the button at the bottom right that says Clear Fault Memory.
  • It will cycle the ignition and erase all stored codes.

In DTS Monaco:
  • Open your workspace and connect.
  • Select all ECUs (usually Ctrl + A in the ECU list).
  • Click the DTC button in the top toolbar.
  • Click Clear DTCs (sometimes labeled "Functional Clear").

2. "Active Distance" (Distronic/Radar)

No, calibration will not fix it if the sensor is physically pointing at the ground or the sky. The software can only compensate for small deviations (usually around +/- 3 degrees).

Will it tell you the degrees?
Yes. In Xentry, before you start the driving calibration, there is a step called "Check adjustment of sensor" (or similar under Actual Values).

It will show you two values:
  • Azimuth (Horizontal angle - Left/Right)
  • Elevation (Vertical angle - Up/Down)

The Process:

1. Check the Values
Connect Xentry and look at those angles.
  • If they are close to 0° (e.g., 0.5°, -1.2°), you are good to drive.
  • If you see something like 4.5° or "Value out of range", you must physically adjust it first.

2. Physical Alignment
There are usually two adjustment screws on the radar sensor body (one for Up/Down, one for Left/Right). You turn them with a hex key/torx driver while watching the values in Xentry update until they are close to 0°.

3. The Drive
Once the physical angle is within tolerance, you start the Dynamic Calibration in Xentry and drive the car. The software will then fine-tune itself to lock in the final position.
