Okay, in this folder there is a video that explains the steps, but it’s for another version of the program. There is also a file that contains a password for the newer version. So I’m wondering—does that mean there is one user ID and two different passwords, or how does it work? I’m a bit confused.

If the text file only lists a password, it usually implies that the User ID is one of the standard default accounts used by these activators.

Try these common User IDs with the password you found:

  • M311331 (This is the most common Developer ID)
  • XX12345
  • admin
  • TT

You cannot use a simple "OBD to USB" cable (like the ones used for cars/ELM327). Those will not work with Volvo Tech Tool or Heavy Duty trucks.

You need a proper RP1210 Compliant Communication Adapter.

Here are your options:

Since you are using an Offline Kit, you cannot simply click "Update" and expect it to download the latest version from Volvo's servers. The internal updater is likely just reinstalling the version it finds in your local cache (which is 2.8.32.8).

To update to 2.8.330, you must perform a Manual Offline Update.
