Can you share more details so we can narrow it down?

  • Which PTT version exactly — 1.12 from this thread?
  • Truck model / engine — e.g. Volvo FH4 D13K Euro 6, year?
  • Which ECU are you trying to access parameters on — EMS (engine), EECU, aftertreatment (ACM/DCU), other?
  • What exactly happens — does PTT identify the vehicle and ECUs correctly, but parameter reading/writing fails? Any error message or code?
  • Are you working offline or online?
  • Which VCI / adapter are you using?

Euro 6 vehicles often have additional security layers on certain ECUs (especially aftertreatment and EMS) that require updated APCI databases and sometimes online authorization. If the offline update packages are not the latest or don't cover your specific Euro 6 hardware/software variant, parameter access can be restricted or fail entirely.

Post the details above and any error screenshots — that will help pinpoint whether it's a database/APCI coverage issue or something else.

The truck is fh4 d13K 2016 i go to parameters loading and fail before i go inside the parameters

The truck is fh4 d13K 2016 i go to parameters loading and fail before i go inside the parameters

That's a known behavior with PTT on Euro 6 D13K units. A few things to check:

1. APCI Database Version
The mоd APCI included in this package may not have full coverage for your 2016 FH4 D13K. Euro 6 EMS3 (D13K) requires a specific APCI dataset. If the database doesn't match the ECU SW/HW version, parameter loading will fail before it even opens.

  • Open PTT → Help → About → check the APCI version/date
  • Compare it against your ECU software version (visible in the vehicle identification screen)

2. ECU Software / Hardware Numbers
Please check and post:
  • EMS SW number (e.g. 21636100 or similar)
  • EMS HW number
  • Any other ECU that also fails (ACM, EECU, etc.) or is it only EMS?

You can find these in PTT under Vehicle Identification → Control Unit list.

3. Offline Updates
Did you install the 2-Offline Updates (32bit or 64bit depending on your OS)? These contain the diagnostic data packages. Without them, Euro 6 parameter sets are often incomplete.

4. Common Fix
In many cases the solution is:
  • Install the correct offline update for your OS architecture
  • Make sure the APCI module is properly applied after the offline update (order matters)
  • Restart PTT completely (not just close/reopen — use the cleanup tool if needed)

5. Online vs Offline
Are you running PTT in offline mode? Some Euro 6 parameter groups require online connection to Volvo's central systems to load. If you're strictly offline, certain parameter categories will fail to load by design.

Post your EMS SW/HW numbers and APCI version and we can tell you if it's a coverage gap or a configuration issue.

Thanks for the screenshot, now I can see the issue clearly.

You're running PTT 2.8.21 with:

  • APCI (-M) 000.009.001.0
  • APCI+ (-M) 0.5.1.0
  • APCI+ last updated: 10/1/2024

This is very likely your problem. The APCI+ 0.5.1.0 database is too old to have full parameter coverage for Euro 6 D13K EMS3. The APCI (-M) shows a 2026 date which looks like a modded/spoofed timestamp, but the actual APCI+ data is from January 2024 — and for a 2016 FH4 D13K with EMS SW 3659, you typically need a newer APCI+ dataset.

What's happening:
PTT identifies the ECU correctly, but when it tries to load the parameter definitions from the APCI+ database, it can't find a matching parameter set for your EMS SW version → loading fails before opening.

What you need to do:

  1. You need an updated APCI+ offline package that covers your D13K EMS software variant. Look for APCI+ version 0.7.x or newer.
  2. Install the APCI+ update after the main PTT installation and offline updates — order matters.
  3. After installing, go back to Help → About and verify the APCI+ version has changed.
  4. Restart PTT completely and try again.

To confirm: When you say EMS SW 3659 — is that the full number or just the last 4 digits? Can you check in the Vehicle Identification → Control Unit list and post the full EMS software part number (usually 8 digits like 2163xxxx or similar)? That way we can confirm exactly which APCI+ version covers it.

Also — does the same problem happen with other Euro 6 ECUs on this truck (ACM, EECU, etc.) or is it only EMS that fails to load parameters?

I have offline working

OK, so offline mode is working but parameters specifically fail to load on the EMS.

The core issue is still the APCI+ 0.5.1.0 — it simply doesn't have the parameter definitions for your D13K EMS SW variant.

To confirm this:
  • Do other ECUs on the same truck (EECU, ACM/DCU, BBM, etc.) load parameters successfully, or do they all fail?
  • Is it only EMS that fails?

If it's only EMS (or EMS + ACM), that confirms the APCI+ database gap for Euro 6 specific controllers.

Solution:
You need a newer APCI+ offline update — version 0.7.x or higher. Your current 0.5.1.0 is too old for full D13K Euro 6 parameter coverage.

The installation order must be:
  1. PTT base (2.8.21 — already done)
  2. Offline update package (already done)
  3. APCI+ update (this is what you're missing — needs to be applied last)
  4. Restart PTT

Check with the thread OP or other members if a newer APCI+ package is available for this PTT version. Without it, parameter loading on Euro 6 EMS will keep failing regardless of other settings.

Can you help me about restart ptt

Sure. To properly restart PTT (not just close and reopen), follow these steps:

Method 1 — Full Service Restart:

  1. Close Tech Tool completely
  2. Open Windows Services (press Win + R → type services.msc → Enter)
  3. Find these services and restart them in this order:
    • TechTool Service — Right click → Restart
    • APCI Service (if listed) — Right click → Restart
  4. Reopen Tech Tool

Method 2 — Full Cleanup Restart:

  1. Close Tech Tool
  2. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
  3. Kill any remaining PTT-related processes:
    • TechTool.exe
    • java.exe / javaw.exe (PTT uses Java)
    • Any APCI-related process
  4. Go to the PTT temp/cache folder and clear it:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\cache
    or
    Code:
    C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\Temp\TechTool
Delete the contents (not the folder itself)
  5. Restart the PC completely (full shutdown, not sleep/hibernate)
  6. Open Tech Tool fresh

Method 3 — Quick (if you just installed APCI+ update):

Simply do a full PC restart — Shut down completely, wait 10 seconds, power on. This ensures all PTT services reinitialize with the new APCI+ data.

Important: After restart, go to Help → About again and verify the APCI+ version has changed. If it still shows 0.5.1.0, the update didn't apply correctly.

Which method did you try?

The 2, methods you told me i can found it how i can make update this

You're asking how to get and install the APCI+ update itself. Unfortunately this is not something you can simply download from within PTT in offline mode.

Here's what you need to do:

Option 1 — Ask in this thread

Ask the thread OP or other members if they have a newer APCI+ offline package (version 0.7.x or higher) compatible with PTT 2.8.21. This is the most common way people get it.

Option 2 — Check your PTT installation files

Look in your original PTT installation folder or ISO/archive for a separate APCI+ installer. It's usually a separate file like:

  • APCIPlusUpdate_0.7.x.exe
  • or inside a folder called APCI+ or Updates

Check these locations:
  • The original PTT download/ISO you used
  • Any "Updates" or "Extras" folder that came with it
  • Sometimes it's a separate archive alongside the main PTT installer

Option 3 — Manual check on your system

Go to:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\

Look for any folder named APCI or APCI+ and check what version files are inside. Sometimes the update is already downloaded but not applied.

Bottom line: The APCI+ update is a separate package from the main PTT installation. Without it, your EMS parameters won't load. Post here asking specifically for the APCI+ offline update compatible with PTT 2.8.21 — someone in the thread should be able to help.

I can see the Installation Check result. The error is:

"Was not able to check installed components. The InstalledVersion.xml could not be found."

This means your PTT installation is incomplete or corrupted — the file that tracks which components and versions are installed is missing.

How to fix it:

Step 1 — Find or recreate the file

Navigate to:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\

Look for a file called InstalledVersion.xml. If it's not there, check also:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\Config\
Code:
C:\ProgramData\Tech Tool\

Step 2 — If the file is completely missing

This usually means:
  • The PTT base installation didn't finish correctly
  • Or the offline update overwrote/deleted it

The best fix is to reinstall PTT from scratch in the correct order:

  1. Uninstall current PTT completely (Control Panel → Uninstall)
  2. Delete leftover folders in
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\
  3. Restart PC
  4. Install PTT 2.8.21 base first
  5. Run the Installation Check — make sure ALL green, no errors
  6. Then apply the offline update
  7. Run Installation Check again — all should be green
  8. Then apply APCI+ update (if you have a newer one)

Important: Do NOT apply the offline update until the base installation passes the check with zero errors. That missing XML file means the foundation is broken, and everything built on top of it (offline data, APCI+) won't work properly.

Do you still have the original PTT 2.8.21 base installer?

I download from here

OK, so you downloaded PTT from this thread. That's fine.

The issue is your base installation is broken (missing InstalledVersion.xml).

Here's what I recommend:

Complete clean reinstall — step by step:

  1. Uninstall PTT from Control Panel → Programs and Features
  2. After uninstall, manually delete these folders if they still exist:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\
    C:\ProgramData\Tech Tool\
  3. Restart PC
  4. Re-download the PTT package from this thread (check page 1 for the latest working links)
  5. Before installing, disable antivirus completely — Windows Defender and any other AV. They often delete or block PTT files during installation, which causes exactly this kind of problem (missing XML files)
  6. Right-click the installer → Run as Administrator
  7. Let the installation finish completely — do not interrupt it
  8. Run the Installation Check again — all items should be green
  9. Only then apply offline database / APCI+ updates

Most likely cause: Your antivirus quarantined or blocked the InstalledVersion.xml file during the first installation. Check your antivirus quarantine/history to confirm.

After clean reinstall, post the Installation Check screenshot again and we'll go from there.
