OK, so you downloaded PTT from this thread. That's fine.

The issue is your base installation is broken (missing InstalledVersion.xml).

Here's what I recommend:

Complete clean reinstall — step by step:

  1. Uninstall PTT from Control Panel → Programs and Features
  2. After uninstall, manually delete these folders if they still exist:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Tech Tool\
    C:\ProgramData\Tech Tool\
  3. Restart PC
  4. Re-download the PTT package from this thread (check page 1 for the latest working links)
  5. Before installing, disable antivirus completely — Windows Defender and any other AV. They often delete or block PTT files during installation, which causes exactly this kind of problem (missing XML files)
  6. Right-click the installer → Run as Administrator
  7. Let the installation finish completely — do not interrupt it
  8. Run the Installation Check again — all items should be green
  9. Only then apply offline database / APCI+ updates

Most likely cause: Your antivirus quarantined or blocked the InstalledVersion.xml file during the first installation. Check your antivirus quarantine/history to confirm.

After clean reinstall, post the Installation Check screenshot again and we'll go from there.

I can see from your screenshot that the Client Update is working and downloading/installing updates from 2.8.260 all the way up to 2.8.360 (04-Dec-2025). That's great — it means your PTT base installation is actually working now and connected to the update server.

Let it finish all the updates completely. Don't interrupt it.

Regarding APCI+ for Euro 6 Volvo 2014+

APCI+ is the database that contains vehicle-specific diagnostic data (wiring diagrams, fault code descriptions, guided diagnostics, etc.). For Euro 6 coverage you need a relatively recent APCI+ version.

However — first let the Client Update finish installing all versions up to 2.8.360. After that:

  1. Run Installation Check again and post the result
  2. Check in PTT under Help → About what APCI+ version is currently installed (if any)
  3. Post that info here

The client updates you're installing now are PTT application updates — they don't include APCI+ data. APCI+ is a separate package that needs to be installed on top.

Once your updates finish and we confirm the base is healthy, you'll need the APCI+ package. Check the first pages of this thread — there are usually links shared for offline APCI+ packages. If not, someone in the thread may be able to help.

What exact truck model do you have? (FH, FM, FMX, FE, FL?) — this helps confirm which APCI+ coverage you need.

Always stuck here

Looking at your screenshot, the Client Update is stuck during the installation of Tech Tool Update Info Version 2.8.22.1 — the download progress bar is full but the installation progress bar is not completing.

This is a common issue. Try the following:

1. Cancel and retry
Click Cancel, close the Client Update tool, and reopen it. Sometimes it just hangs on one package and a retry fixes it.

2. Run as Administrator
Make sure you're running the Client Update with Right-click → Run as Administrator. Without admin rights it can hang during file writes.

3. Check disk space
Make sure your C: drive has enough free space — at least 20-30 GB free. These updates extract and install a lot of data.

4. Try installing one at a time
Instead of selecting all updates at once:
  • Uncheck all versions
  • Select only the first one (2.8.260)
  • Download and install it
  • Then move to the next one

This avoids overloading the installer.

5. Check if the update service is stuck
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and look for any stuck processes like msiexec.exe or TechToolUpdate. If you see them hanging, end those tasks and retry.

6. Disable "Install automatically after download"
Uncheck that box in the top right. Download all updates first, then click Install manually after downloads complete.

Try these steps and let us know where it gets stuck again.
